Water Damage Laptop IC-Not_found
« on: May 26, 2021, 08:30:36 am »
Hello!
My friend spilt coffee on his laptop and the laptop released the "magic" smoke... I disassembled it and found that the amplifier IC? was blown out. I removed it, cleaned the traces and... nothing no screen, so my investigation continued. When I was pressing the on/off button the fan was spinning and the power_on_led was glowing, my guess was that something went wrong with the ram. I was close, an IC close to the ram slots was hotter than other components, after a while I found out that three close components to that IC were also hot. Close to a specific IC, the capacitors were shorted, I removed the IC and the short circuit was gone. I can't find any info for the specific IC. It is the AYOA 743L. I found a similar-looking Ic on aliexpress but I don't know If it's the same.

similar component: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32856221367.html
datasheet for the Aliexpress component: https://html.alldatasheet.com/html-pdf/1244924/AOSMD/AOZ1331DI/359/2/AOZ1331DI.html

Bottom number looks like a date/lot code . AYOA  , AYO , and AY in a  DFN-14L package seem to lead to  a Ultra-Low On-Resistance 6A Dual Load Switch .
AOZ1331DI     Alpha Omega       load resistor 220Ω
APE8990-HF-3 and APE8910-HF-3   Advanced Power Electronics Corp. The internal load resistor being the only difference between the two . 150Ω and  250Ω

Nice, so I believe that the difference in resistance will not create any problem. Correct? Btw thank you for the informatios.
