It is 2009, I am on Deal Extreme website ordering 10x 10mm-keychain lights for $5, few arrive dead on arrival, but most work, dissecting several I find 2 stacked CR2032's without any resistors, directly attached to a simple mechanical push-LED-leg-to-battery configuration.

I left those LED's at my grandmas in a different country, burnt broken and lost them all, until while visiting her this summer I found one last broken LED with broken off legs, and I had to grind around the plastic and resurrect it because it seems to be the last of its kind.

The most impressive part of this LED is that it throws a very narrow beam, which makes it actually not useless, and with 6V its super bright, I remember it throwing a large point onto a building at night that was 50 meters(!!) away, just one LED. Unfortunately all my 10mm LED searches end up showing me these fat stubby wide angle LED's that are 3V, and these 6V narrow angle LED's (maybe 1-5 degrees) are completely gone. It is also seems to be less blue and more towards greenish, with seemingly higher CRI than the current 5mm LED's that are super blue tinted.

Here is a comparison:
This is the new style maybe 20 degree, 3V fat 10mm LED

This is the old style that I resurrected, maybe 1-5 degree beam, 6V, 10-10.5mm width, 13-14mm height.

I am kind of shocked  :-// that it's gone off the market, does anyone maybe know what its called exactly? Can anyone still find them somewhere? So far all my searches have been futile, it's like it has disappeared due to some crazy conspiracy, I cannot believe they still sell the pretty useless 5mm white LED's when this 10 year old one beats trashes the keychains that come with 3(!!!) 5mm LED's.

I also wonder if its possible to power this LED directly with an 18650 or would the 1A+ current kill it?

Found somebodies old review of this light, please check it out here https://www.skooterblog.com/en/2010/08/11/dealextreme-mais-um-hub-usb-2-0-com-10-portas-e-fonte-de-energia-externa-100240v-ac-e-chaveiro-lanterna-de-brinde/#.XeiAYuhKj4Y

I am pretty sure these super expensive keychain nitecores dont hold a candle to this beast.... that disappeared for no reason...

I just found a bunch of them on dealextreme, however I am not sure if its the correct one, mine measures 13-14mm in height, so a pretty long lens, they dont list the dimensions apart from 10mm width so its a gamble. Found similar narrowing 10mm on ebay but it does not look to be narrowing and long enough.

It's not a special 6V LED. No resistor was used because the CR2032 cells have such a high internal resistance, it limits the current to a safe level. If you measure the voltage across the LED, running from the two CR2032 cells in series, you'll find it's between 3V and 4V.

30 second taobao search turned up: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.167.1c3e6910qixjvW&id=557947591746&ns=1&abbucket=11#detail

This picture seems to confirm the focal length:

Yes I had of course, while it does look like a narrower beamed variant, it does not have the elongated bullet head shape when compared side by side. I have seen the same ones on ebay and I have asked the seller to take better profile pictures of them, so I am waiting for the response.
