What component is this?

Hey all. I am trying to repair a failed 24v psu, and found this fsiled component that i cannot identify. Looks like the outer casing has ruptured, and left a glass fiber voven core visible. Any ideas?  :-//

Looks like an axial fuse, thermal fuse.

Well, i replaced it with a fuse. Then blew the top of an IC when powered up. :palm: I guess this goes in the parts bin!

It was a 5w wire wound resistor .Depending on the exact circuit it was probably 10R0 . Some China 24v units use a 2R2 . . You will have to reverse engeer a bit . The chip is probably the power correction . A little hard to see the exact from your photo .
Was that transistor a rectifier double diode . ?

The IC is only a buck, you jumped ahead a little or left out what you tested. There was likely a short somewhere and might still be. I'd be diode hunting.

I also forgot to mention if that resistor has blown for sure you have other problems . Diodes as mentioned and even the driver Mosfets or Power transistors.
If these are blown your feed back has a problem can be due to the small 4.7uf 50v go open and goes into overload and the rectifiers fail and or drive circuit.
 Without knowing the exact type or rating the PS can fail in many ways
