I suspect the PCB, battery, LCD and glass add far more strength than the case regardless of material ... I assume the point where it bend was the edge of the battery.

PS. also the note is almost 20% thicker ... guess we have found out what is too thin for a device that size.

It looks like the weak point is the milled out area near the volume buttons.

I think Jony Ive and his team have really made a mess of the iPhone6/6+, i'm not a fan of the camera lens poking out of the back (won't sit flat) and the antenna banding is ugly. Suspect he and his team have been a little too focused on the Watch of late.

Here's the original iPhone 6 video.

1m 20 sec to say "I am going to bend an iphone 6".

Less that 30 sec to actually bend it to a point.

The rest to state the obvious and blah blah blah.

Generous environment the Web.  :palm:

Apple's business plan is two part.

1 - Put an Apple logo on it.
2 - People will pay for it.

I believe that had a slide for that in the last presentation...   Yeah, here it is:

I really don't understand this.  There have been reports of nearly every large smartphone ("phablets" apparently they're being called) built in the last 3 years bending or cracking under normal use, but two reports of an iPhone 6 bending, plus one guy monkey-wrenching it on camera, is cause for global alarm?

I just chalk it up to the annual "what flaw can we find in Apple's new device this year" brigade.  99.9999% of users will never have a problem, and in a month it will be old news.  Don't sit on it or stick it sideways in a pair of skinny jeans and it won't be a problem.

When you think about it, Samsung has much more experience than apple in designing smart phone hardware.

After spending hundreds of dollars on a phone why do people mistreat such an item? I would not dream of putting any electrical device in my back pocket and my 1,2cm thick dumb phone sits in my jacket pocket or on my desk.

Slab phones are fragile, such is life.

There is no mistreat. That junk bends sitting in the front pocket of your pants. Iphone 5 is a junk too, dropping in on the corner severely deforms housing. Don't tell me that dropping is a something exceptional as every mobile phone gets dropped once in a while regardless of how careful the owner is. All because of that funky aluminium which cannot return to the original state after taking mechanical shock unlike plastics.

Last year when the company gave us iPhone 4s, they included the Otterbox Defender case.  Yes, it does add bulk, but you can play hockey with the phone.  I don't put either my company phone or my personal smartphone in my back pocket.  That is just a silly idea.  I can't see how a flex issue can be avoided when the phones are becoming larger and slimmer.  Use (un)common sense and properly care for your device.  Suicidaleggroll said it correct, keep it out of your skinny jeans pocket.  Just hold it so everyone can see how cool and trendy you are.  Though I guess that it could be a problem if you are already using one hand to hold up your 5 sizes too large baggy pants. |O

I wish more phone makers would make devices that were not thin enough to cut you.  With a wide phone, it is just impossible to hold.  Then I take off the back and add about double the stock battery capacity to make it fully usable for a day of hard use.  I think Motorola is the only one with a large battery stock on the Max branch of devices.  Thickness gives rigidity, if engineered correctly.

The "junk" does not bend sitting there.  The guy nearly has an aneurysm trying to bend the iPhone in the video I had seen.  They are bending because the pockets on all these "hip" jeans are about 1" deep and 75% of the phone is hanging out of your pocket.

Durability of phones is a real issue, I have three teenage daughters and most of their friends who all smash their iphones like crazy, cracked screens, backs etc are the norm. Unless as consumers we let Apple et al know about the problems they will keep selling the poorly durable stuff to us. |O If that was a phone not a wall it would have a dent now!
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

He didn't use a lot of force when phone started to bend. Lot of force was used only to see how far it will bend. Maybe you didn't notice but before the bending he showed that there already were slight bending after a few days of normal usage.

This is done intentionally . When someone will release a phone with bendable screen (intentionally bendable) apple will claim they had it first. Should one try to patent bendable phones apple can claim not only prior art , but mass production.

Samsung has curved screen phones. You can call it factory pre-bent.

I had a Nokia 8110i that was like that. I liked that phone, too bad it went in an armed robbery.

Repaired a few dozens of i phone/pads. They didn't make me love them for sure. Unfortunately I have an ipad 2 myself  :palm:. Was given at my job a while ago when they were still fancy, of course jailbroken. What do not make me like i devices except hardware?  I don't really understand who actually owns purchased device - apple or actual user. Likely apple owns users  :). Not big Android fan too. And not a fan of modern disposable techology, you are like a hobo if your phone is more than a one year old  :) (or what they want you to think).
