What is the functional difference between parallel flash and parallel EEPROM? |
| langwadt:
usually if you need to change a byte in flash you need to erase a whole sector, in eeprom you can change a single byte |
| jackthomson41:
Flash memory, also known as flash storage, is a type of nonvolatile memory that erases data in units called blocks and rewrites data at the byte level. Normally used for storing code. EEPROM is also a non-volatile memory, data will remain intact even it's powered off. Normally routine data is saved in EEPROM. Btw I am talking about Microcontrollers. |
| MosherIV:
Another difference is the memory size of flash and eeprom. Flash will generally be larger than eeprom. Fash is available in Mega Bytes (MB) Eeprom is available in KiloBytes (KB) |
