Title: what is this piercing insulation connector called?

I'm wondering what these connectors are called (see attachments).

They seem similar to the Molex KK series connectors, but instead of crimping the ends of the wires you can just push them down into the housing and the wire's insulation is pierced to make contact.

Are the housings still available? Do you need a special tool to insert the wires?

IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) and yes they love to sell you special tools but a flat bladed screwdriver of an apropriate size usually works for those (dont strip the wire).

I don't advise using this type of connector if you care about reliability. Seen too many with wire loosing connection or even falling out. Special tool is needed. You can sort of use a flat screwdriver to push the wire in but reliability will be atrocious.
