Stepper motor controlling
« on: May 21, 2015, 07:05:56 pm »
Hey, noob here with a question regarding stepper motors and a way to control a specific range of motion.
To be a bit more specific, i want to have a rotary knob (potentiometer - encoder?) that makes all four stepper motors perform 6 full revolutions.

I don't mind if the knob doesn't have a "min-max" (like a volume knob) setting, i just want it from end-to-end (i would like -if possible- for the knob to be max 1 revolution) to make all the motors perform 2160 degrees. Center would be a hypothetical zero, and from there 1080 degrees (3 full revolutions) to each end.

I have been reading a lot about quadrature encoders and that this would be the way to go, but my knowledge limits me to go for the simplest solution.
So, the question is, is there an "easy" way to do this?

Thank you in advance!
