Where to buy this chip or what equivalent to use?
« on: November 24, 2022, 09:11:03 pm »
Could anyone advise where I can buy
MSC 7101IDM - 2A High Voltage Synchronous Buck Converter ?
The datasheet can be loaded here https://www.microsemi.com/existing-parts/parts/80066#resources

Or what equivalent to use?
That IC is used in external disk and I need to replace that IC because it is damaged.
Thank you for help

eBay is selling.
Get a dozen and make a test circuit.

The picture I saw had a chip on a possibly plastic carper.
I was able to pick three dozens.
Advance-Aneng-Appa-AVO-Beckman-Data Tech-Fluke-General Radio-H. W. Sullivan-Heathkit-HP-Kaise-Kyoritsu-Leeds & Northrup-Mastech-REO-Simpson-Sinclair-Tektronix-Tokyo Rikosha-Triplett-YFE
(plus lesser brands from the work shop of the world)

Richtek RT8284N runs at 340kHz like your chip and has same pinout : https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/richtek-usa-inc/RT8284NGS/3078368
datasheet here https://www.richtek.com/assets/product_file/RT8284N/DS8284N-04.pdf

Same for RT8292 : https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/richtek-usa-inc/RT8292AHZSP/3078373

And another with same footprint, pinout and switching frequency, MP2307 : https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/monolithic-power-systems-inc/MP2307DN-LF-Z/5292007

And another, MP1482 : https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/monolithic-power-systems-inc/MP1482DS-LF-Z/5291681

LV58063 seems to have same pinout : https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/onsemi/LV58063MC-AH/4848070
It's close enough frequency (370kHz instead of 340kHz) that would probably make other parts in circuit compatible

Another very close one, Sanken NR855E :  https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/sanken/NR885E/4289135
Runs at 350kHz, slightly less maximum voltage (max 18v) and has same pinout but no COMP .. instead of COMP it's a NC pin.

Seriously, not that hard to go in a store like Digikey, mouser, farnell/newark and filter by package type (soic-8) and then by frequency range to get some potential replacement candidates.
