Where to find Wire with colored trace?

Hi All, long time reader first time poster.

Im doing some wiring loom reapir and I need to find a supplier of colored wire with colored trace, in 3 or 4mm. However I only need small quantities. 5-10 meters of each color.
Ive had a good look around element14 and from google-ing. But the few places I have found only have 2 or 3 different color combinations.

Surely this is a common type of wire and Im just not searhcing right? Not using the right keywords?
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Would it be too much hassle to stripe the wires with paint markers?

I suspect the major automotive manufacturers order their wire specially made.  When I wanted to match the colors for an automotive wiring loom repair, I went to a local recycling place.  It was small enough that one could browse its yard and do the disassembly himself.

If the purpose is to provide definitive ID, and not to match, I prefer numbered wires, as used in aircraft and some cars.  Numbering machines are available.

They have 1236 types of wire with "stripe" in the jacket description in their catalogue and 482 of these are currently in stock.

Even if you don't want to buy from Digikey that search will give you a zillion manufacturers part numbers to search for or plug in somewhere else.
