Yet another component to be identified

Ok, got a quick answer to my previous call for help on identifying a component.
So, I am hoping to up the game with this one.  :D
Anyone any guesses?

Signal transformers, TX/RX pair. Which interface type is not clear.

Have to admit, I am not any much more clear on what these are doing on the board I have (part of a Solartron 7060 multimeter).

Have to admit, I am not any much more clear on what these are doing on the board I have (part of a Solartron 7060 multimeter).

As standard for nearly all bench DVM design, the grounded digital control circuitry is electrically isolated to the floating analogue circuitry. These two interfaces can exchange data/control signals optically via optocoupler or magnetically via signal transformer.

Sorry, my intention with my reply was meant to reflect how "much" knowledge and understanding on electronics I have.
i.e. I had never heard of signal transformers before.

Here is a typical drawing showing the two interfaces, communicating via signal transformer. It is taken from an age old Datron 1051 bench DVM schematic.

The analogue section uses +/-15V while the digital section uses 5V. They do not share a common ground. Therefore if one connects 500V to the DVM input during a measurement, then there could be 500V between the two sections.
