Cheap oscilloscope to 400-500 eur

Hello everyone

Can You advice me pls? I want to buy some oscilloscope for beginner. I think up to 100Mhz and two channels are enough. And up to 500EUR of price.

500EUR is a good budget for oscilloscope today!

With less than 500EUR you get 4 channels and 100MHz (well, at least applying a software crack to enable higher BW). Rigol DS1054Z was the game changer almost a decade ago, and Siglent has a competiting product for quite some time, and there might be others as well.

None of these have super-responsive interface but they are fine, really. You get a lot of bang for buck and they do work. Of course a $5000 Agilent does better.

And you have still some 150EUR of budget left, which you can use to buy a function generator from the mentioned Chinese manufacturers, or a decent soldering iron (like Hakko).

I have the Rigol DS1054Z and it's a great scope.  Today, I would buy the Siglent SDS1104X-E.  It wasn't available when I bought the Rigol. I have no idea how the prices translate to EUR

That Sigilent SDS1104X-E looks good and enough for me. I am very inclined purchase. That has something like digital phosphor as I saw.

There are MANY threads discussing that scope.  Maybe look through the Test Equipment forum as well.  It is highly regarded and I think it can be unlocked to get 200 MHz bandwidth.

I leave it for you to read the thread as I don't have that scope.  Pay attention to tautech posts, he is a Siglent distributor in NZ.

SDS1104X-E that rstofer mentions is a hell of a lot of scope for the price and has so much functionality many owners won't use it all. Still, it's a fine scope to grow into as your knowledge grows but Siglent have understood it's more scope than everybody needs which is why they released a slimmed down cheaper version in SDS1104X-U.

What sort of work are you intending to do? What is setting your budget (i.e. do you want to go as cheap as possible)?

Last year I got a very low-end "Hantek DSO2C10 Digital Oscilloscope 2CH Digital Storage 1GS/s", on Banggood with an extra probe it was about 200E. It also has a very basic but functional wave generator on it.

Given the limitations (and it does have quite a few) of the price point it would make an reasonable minimum viable hobby Oscilloscope.

It might also be helpful to get some background on the beginner you are buying it for.

How much of a beginner is this person? Do they show an avid interest in electronics? How well are they set up with the other things you need in this hobby such as multimeters (note plural), power supplies, soldering iron, function generator, ... $500 can buy a lot of scope which can take a beginner a long time to fully appreciate.
