Will SimCom 7000G work in USA?
« on: April 03, 2024, 07:12:34 pm »
Hello,

I'm from Europe, and I'm making project for my US friend. I have module LilyGo ESP32 + SIM7000G (G like Global). After purchase I seen that it not support "LTE"... Module is working good in my European country, it connects to internet, can send sms. Will it work (connect to internet and send sms) in USA? Can't find any info, only some outdated things... If it will work in US any sim card of any carrier can be used?

USA is different.
There are LTE networks, but that is not universal.

European lands are more or less populated.
USA has so remote places that wireless is not available at all.

SIM7000G Supports LTE, GPRS, and GPS cummunicaion. If your friend's area has GPRS network coverage, they can use SIM7000G.

Hi

The Simcom7000G version supports following bands

Global-Band LTE CAT-M1: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B8/B12/B13/B18/B19/B20/B 26/B28/B39;
Global-Band LTE CAT NB-IoT1: B1/B2/B3/B5/B8/B12/B13/B17/B18/B19/B20/ B26/B28;
GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900Mhz

If an operator does have a network running one of the above modes/bands than it will be possible to use it.
NB. This IoT targeted modem does not support regular LTE, only LTE-M1 or NBIoT
