Working with floating oscilloscopes or battery powered dso's

Hello guys I'm nikhil and I'm new to this fourm so please don't get angry on my questions that might look silly to you, so recently I ordered my HANTEK 6022BE oscilloscope and then I head over to the internet to learn how to handle it, taking measurements, function and safety, and then I got that Dave's video "How not to blow up your oscilloscope" and I got really confused  :scared:so I was very scared to use it with my PC coz as it is USB powered if anything goes wrong I may end up blowing my PC too |O , so I thought why not to use my old Android(KitKat) tablet with the software "Hscope" (available on play store) to get the readings but my doubt is that for example if now in probing a rectifier and I connected my probes to it's output then on every negative cycle my tablet's ground will short with the output of rectifier or we can say the negative voltage will go to the ground of my battery so will it gonna make any problem?, if not does it mean that I can probe everywhere(except looking for voltage levels) without the fear of blowing anything?

hi,
don't panic.
1.interfacing with PC is good idea for advanced technicians, for beginners  needs buying isolated USB interface (like 20-60 usd on ebay).protects your PC at 100%.
(I already repaired mobo's burned from incorrect interfacing, the client was an engineer with 30 years of experience in electronic research company!!)

2.working with 'dangerous' loads: buy an isolation transformer 220V/220V and power the load (device under test) from isolation transformer.keeps your oscilloscope safe

3.keep your hands away from high voltage :)

1: never disconnect a scope's protective mains earth
2: isolation transformers help with some problems but can introduce others, some safety related. There's lots of advice on this forum, some good.
3: use the right probe for the task. Have a look at the Tektronix references and safety references at https://entertaininghacks.wordpress.com/library-2/scope-probe-reference-material/

First of all, Thanks for replying, and I will buy that isolator for pc, and as of now I'm powering it and getting readings on tablet and load is not ground referenced so will I still have to pay attention to test ckt like ,if now I connect a rectifier to it will it be ok, since it is powered by tablet's battery

And one more doubt for example I'm powering oscilloscope with PC and  I'm analysing a battery powered device(floating) and I accidentally connect the ground lead to positive side and probe to ground, will it gonna blow up

Can you explain point 2, what problems in safety we got if we connect DUT to isolation transformer?

I'm not going to badly summarise information found elsewhere on this forum and in literature. Doing that research yourself will enable you to understand things you didn'e even know you needed to understand!
