Hey gang,
I suppose the title says it all. I'm looking for an I2C controllable 16-bit DAC. I found a ton on Mouser, but they're all in SMT packages which I'm not too hot about. I'd prefer a through hole model. You'd think such a thing existed, but so far, no cigar :palm:
Price is not an issue, it's for a personal project. As long as it's accurate. Vout(max) should be 5V and it should take an external VREF. :-/O
Does anyone have a tip? (apart from looking at socket adapters >:D )

An adapter PCB SMT-to-through-hole? Shouldn't be too difficult to solder.

@ farnell filtering among DACs 16 bit + DIP package yields 24 products.

None of which support I2C... See my problem? :P

Would this fit your requirements?

considering the price of those DACs it's n ot a problem to add a small micro to do the translation if I2C is really a must.
btw.. what's the application ? why it has to be I2C ?

Boards like these, + $60 hotair gun, + solder paste.

It's really easy - and will open up a lot of choice (and price options) for op-amps, comparators, ADCs etc.
It also means you don't need two separate inventories (SMT and DIP) for the same jelly-bean IC components.

I think what he wants is DAC not ADC. :-DD
