I have just found I have 2x XR2206 chips, and I see on the data base for these what looks like to be a good ramp / sweep generator, any advice or should I just get the bread board going, maybe I could find a way of using both bread board at the ready
They are nice oscillators, but just remember they are truly obsolete, so do not blow them up.
Warning taken Sean I'll run them at 13.8 volts, the chip states 10 to 26 volts, I'll keep one back for my Blackstar function generator as this what they run on.
They must have bought a truckload then a decade or three ago. As it is only available in DIP that says there have been none made since SM started being more than something used in the Military and avionics world.
I've just saw on e-bay may well buy a few
Got also two XR2206, one in a DIY sweep generator and the second one as spare part. About 20 years ago all electronic magazines were full of XR2206 based function generator circuits. I've built one of the Elektor versions back then and it's still running fine.
Note they are also out of stock.........

this is what I want to build, I'm just following the circuit on the data ref page of the chip, unless you know of a better one of course, in the breadboarding stage at the minute
I got mine from Tanner Electronics locally. It was about $6 but I see them on EBay for around $3.

In case you got access to the Elektor archive please see issue April 1990. I also found a deluxe version at
Function Generator, Generator functii, XR2206 - KTE 2000 01.

Yes I have and thank you for the schematic

Purchased ten of them two weeks ago and they arrived on Saturday. Not sure of these are NOS or if there's a current manufacturer.

Ok Thanks for that I have an order in
I have a couple of these ICs as well, I got one in an Elenco FG-500 kit that I assembled recently and then another in a large box of electronics I was given a few weeks back. I plan to use both ICs in a common case and some tweaking for multiple output function generator.

I want to use one as a sweep generator and the other as a function generator, I particularly want to make them the best quality my skill level will allow me, and learn a lot on the way, so I'll not be rushing things.
