There is a UX theme that's dark in account settings: Look and Layout - Current Theme (change).
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

There are 1-2 dark themes in user setting, click on the "(change)" at the end of the "Current Theme" line:  https://www.eevblog.com/forum/profile/?area=theme

Another possibility is to use a browser plugin like GreaseMonkey or Stylus, and together with it use this custom theme made by MarkFhttps://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/forum-dark-theme/
Same dark theme by MarkF in another thread:  https://www.eevblog.com/forum/news/dark-theme/msg2482614/#msg2482614

Out of curiosity, what's the benefit of a dark mode?

Why do I ask? Because as far as I am concerned, dark mode makes distracting reflections of room objects more visible.

Speaking as someone who was trained in workstation ergonomic assessments and who remembers green-on-black glass TTYs, reflections are Not A Good Thing.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Dark mode is great in dark rooms. Much less eye strain.

I've known people who have to work in a dark room, to avoid screen reflections.

Good monitors will have less reflections: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tests/picture-quality/reflections
Matte coating can help as well.

I use dark mode even in bright sunny room.

Matte coating can help as well.

Matt screens reduce crispness to a greater or lesser extent.

Flat screen is better since (unlike a curved screen), it can often be angled to move reflections off-screen.

In all cases reflections are reduced by ordinary non-dark mode.

Simply not true. Dark mode creates more afterimage on the eyes and makes it harder to switch contexts.

Trying turning down the monitor brightness instead.

OLED screens use less electricity in dark mode.

If it's consistently applied across sites it stops the wife complaining about the "surges" in brightness as you switch between tabs while you're reading and she's trying to sleep.

Universal dark mode -> Happy wife -> Happy life.

Maybe for you but not for me. Never had any issues with afterimages.

Of course the monitor brightness level should match the room level, you don't set brightness to 100% in a dark room.
You can either use a monitor with ambient light sensing (rare), or install an app to easily adjust the brightness (https://twinkletray.com/)
