Beam it form satellite. no need for multi megawatt transmitters to get 100 miles of range. much more energy efficient. and the satellite is solar powered !
The Earth Station isn't!
They cost as much to run as TV transmitters any day of the week!
The EIRP of City TV Analog Transmitters in Australia is around 100kW for VHF,a bit more for UHF,but that isn't
real power,as the antenna array has around 10dB of power gain within its coverage area.
The CH7 Tx in Perth WA produced 13kW sync tip power (same as PEP,but easier to measure!),
allowing for transmission line losses & antenna gain,it came out as right on 100kW EIRP.
The CH2 Tx had two 10kW units in parallel,as the lowband antennas had less gain.
The quoted output from FM & DAB transmitters is also EIRP.
Contrast this to MF AM,where if you want 55kW.you have to generate it,there is no antenna gain to help you.
