  Might borrow the idea of putting an LED at the top of the fume extractor, as it blocks overhead lighting.

• Just got one, it was just €180 shipped in EU. It is a bit loud, but it is reasonably well built and powerful enough for my needs.
  Can't go wrong with the price. I do board repairs just a couple of days a mounth. If i had to use every day i would have probably bought the hakko fa430

• I hope I'm not dragging up an old thread but I've just got myself the FEK-01 fume extractor. It is a bit noisy and I think the inlet hoses are a little on the stiff side. Other than that I find it works quite well and feels quite solid. I did look for the Hakko FA430 but didn't see it for sale this side of the pond.

• We got one at work too, I agree with the pervious posts. A little bit loud, but performace is ok.
  I'm currently looking to dampen the whole system a little bit, maybe with some PC case muffle mats.
  I'll keep you posted in case it does the trick.
