BM235 on amazon.de
« on: February 01, 2017, 07:53:05 pm »
Hi Dave,
it's nice to see, that your EEVBlog BM235 is available on amazon in Germany, so the "german customs issue" should not not any longer be your concern.
BUT:
The autotranslated description on amazon.de is really bad. Just like it was written by Mr. Wun-Hung-Lo himself. I hope, you can edit the text, here is a short description I wrote, you can use, if you'd like to:

Quote
-EEVBlog Brymen BM235 True RMS Multimeter
-Geringe Abmessungen, nur 160 mm X 80 mm
-verzögerungsfreie Durchgangsprüfung mit akustischer und optischer Signalisierung
-CAT IV, UL- zertifiziert
-Berührungslose Spannungsprüfung

Produktbeschreibung

Lieferumfang:
1 EEVBlog Brymen BM235 Multimeter
1 Silikonschutzhülle in blau
2 Silikonmessleitungen mit vergoldeten Messspitzen und 4mm-Sicherheitssteckern
2 4mm- Adapter zum Aufschrauben auf die Messspitzen
1 K-Typ Temperaturfühler
2 Microbatterien (AAA)

Of course everybody is invited to correct or to extend this description.

By the way, I would not mention, that there is no printed user's manual included, this may cause legal troubles in Germany.

And I also have a question: Will the accessories also be availabe on amazon(.de)? I would be happy...

Greetings from Germany!

The product description is downright dire and reeks of counterfeit. Small changes I would add to Hootch's proposal above:

There is already a discussion about this topic:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/selling-stuff-via-amazon-fullfillment/

Sadly I can't buy this DMM from Dave, because Amazon don't send the DMM to Austria.

Thanks, but I don't even know how to change the German description. It was auto-generated, and as far as Amazon are concern I have one listing on the UK site.  :-//

Well you'd be a mug not to make use of a native speaker translation that landed in your lap. There must be a way because you aren't alone in multilingual listings.

Of course. I just can't figure it out right now, ok?

I just can't figure it out right now

The thread How does a seller correct a poor translation for Amazon IT, DE, ES, and FR (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=300618&tstart=0) has this information:
Quote
You will need to update the bullets and descriptions when editing your items on that marketplace. You may need to create a case with that marketplace Seller Support to update the content with your new content.

By the way, you can update the content, but you may not have authority for your updates to replace the posted content. Seller Support will need to take the action. I have done this myself.

But doing that might be risky; in another thread (https://sellercentral.amazon.de/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1268038), Amazon says:
Quote
Please note that you are required to offer customer service in the language of the platform on which you sell on Amazon (de, fr, uk, it, es).

If you cannot provide such a support you should hire associates who can.

Be aware that you might get blocked from our seller performance department in cases where customers complain about the case that you do not offer support in the language of the country where you offer your items.

Hi!

To avaid this you can use LogoiX. This is a (small?) company that helps you out with this special problem. They are located in Freilassing (Germany) only 3km away from Salzburg (Austria). So you get a German postage adress (their adress) for shipping of the multimeter. In this adress there is a line like c/o abcxyz LogoiX, where abcxyz is your customer number.
If you like, you can pick it up in Freilassing (you'll get a notification when it has arrived) or they will forward it to your Austrian adress for a few Euros (starting at 4,95€), depending on the weight.

Yeah, I know.
It's weird though, there is a lot of other stuff that I can get from Amazon.de
So I wonder why there are restrictions on this item?

Are they actually stocked and shipped by Amazon?
If so I have no idea. I have enabled Amazon's EU wide distribution and it only gives me those countries.
Could be product category specific, as for example you cannot buy electronic products from Amazon and ship them to Australia, but other products you can.

I don't know, they say there are only "17 in stock", so that suggests they do keep some stock.
Bit annoying, by change I am just two farts away from the border at this moment.
I'll figure out something :)

Amazon is sometimes pretty weird in these things.

I can get things that are "fullfilled by Amazon" shipped to Sweden from other sellers (one example I found on amazon.co.uk and .de after a quick search.

Its interesting that amazon says here that electronics can be delivered to Hungary but it still states at the DMM page that it cant be delivered there:

This UniT UT139C is also "Versand durch Amazon" (shipped by Amazon), and it can be shipped to The Netherlands:

https://www.amazon.de/UNI-T-Digitale-Multimeter-Digitales-Universalmessger%C3%A4t/dp/B00XMSUW9Q/ref=pd_sbs_60_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=3JVAD2DEAKZT296P4H28

Yet the eevblog meter, for some reason, does not ship here. I'm assuming the seller can select which countries to ship to, one way or another.

And to complicate it a bit more, the multimeter niekys links to does not deliver to Sweden.

Is there any major difference between the regular Brymen BM235 (in red) and the EEVBlog variation?
The regular one is much easier to order, and also a bit cheaper;
http://www.tme.eu/en/details/bm235/portable-digital-multimeters/brymen/

I can't find any differences in the datasheets/manuals.
Well, the AC voltage specs are a tiny bit different, but that's just a matter of definition.

Not functionally.

As for shipping outside of Germany (or any other country with an Amazon store), it's absolutely possible in at least some cases, as I've bought plenty of products from third-party sellers that were stocked/shipped by Amazon. I'm also fairly certain that shipping follows the same rules as stuff sold directly by Amazon, so anything smaller/lighter than a UPS can be shipped outside of the country in question.

Mine has the LCD fix which I'm lead to believe they didn't roll into their regular products as they didn't consider it a problem.
Don't know about the singing capacitor backlight fix.
Presumably firmware fixes have made it, but beware old stock, mine sell too quickly to have old stock lying around.

I received one from Amazon (US) today that was still revision E.  I think I can live with the issue that Revision F fixes, so its not a huge issue but I was expecting it to be an "F" by now...or maybe that stock has not reached Amazon yet.
