Hello,
I’ve been looking without success for an older EEVBlog video
about a promotional media player that was made cheaply,
and mounted on some card, as a promotional item for a product.
IIRC there was mentioned that some people hacked them to
play arbitrary video content.
Any help with a link or better description of the item in question
would be appreciated.

Thanks :) That might be the problem. I didn’t remember it bing part of a mailbag, but it makes sense.

Yep, that was in a mailbag, search "EEVblog Playboy" ;D

Ah cool, thanks :)
That’s close, but it was a little different, and mainly white.

Wasn't there an ARM-based video player embedded in cardboard, played a drug ad or something for a doctor's office? I can't find the video, though.

That's sounding familiar - and more recent than #331, too.

IIRC Dave specifically said they have been hacked by hobbyists. I have a friend who is chasing some to be made for a company.
There are greeting cards which fit the bill, but the cardboard would have to be custom printed.
