It looks suspiciously close to this product: http://www.rlc-esr.ru/index.php/en-us/multimetr-pintset-nv15
Which is the sixth generation. I have nv11 (third generation) for many years now. A good tool!

What's the forward voltage drop on those diodes? Can you measure it with your new multimeter?

An interesting detail about high-power diodes and SCRs is that they are complete with Belleville springs. I wonder if the springs were sold with the diodes or added during assembly.

Congratulations on your IEEE recognition.  I think most of us know how much you have done / are doing for the electronics engineering community across the globe and it is only right that the official bodies recognize it too!

It may well be your unit, but the LCR tweezers are really terrible. Sure, the interface looks alright and I like the fact it is a mini joystick (saves on pressing a button repeatedly to reach the desired setting), but try relying on ESR/D measurements with such flaky connection.

The oscilloscope seems alright and hopefully is good enough. About $70 would be quite a feat if it works well.

Congratulations on the Senior member status!

An LCR tweezer shootout would be great...

Especially:  How do they perform with in-circuit measurement?  -  measuring loose components is all well and good, but tweezers that work reliably in circuit...  yum!  :D

In circuit measurements are always tricky. Ideally they would use different test signals and not just a fixed one - this would be more like a rather complicated system, not so much to fit to such a tiny unit. Some in circuit tests work OK, but some just fail because of unexpected parallel paths.
Having different 2 component models is allready quite good. So the reading is not just R or C or L but some  RC or RL. This is more than one gets from the usual DMMs.
With the usually limited power if the tweezers the test signals tend to be small, which is often good for in circuit tests.

Reading the values from small SMD resistors and caps is difficult. Conventional probes are hard to use with small SMD parts - so the tweezers are a convenient way to check parts before soldering.  For the shown version the distance from the tip to the display is rather large, though it may be good with small parts, working under a microscope.

The contact problem witht the tweezers may be some dirt on one of the tips - in the video it looks a bit like that for the first tip to look at.

Do you guys really think someone at IEEE is sitting and watching engineers' contribution and when gets amazed nominates them to whatever award? This is merely "recognition of good standing" which if translated to plain language means something like  "oh, thanks for paying you IEEE membership fees all these years so we at the board of directors can have our yearly bonuses. Here is your fake wood plaque, do not forget sending  your next payment".

Any chance of a teardown of the USB charger that came with the FNIRSI 1C15?
I.e. is it about OK or is it craptastic?

There are plenty of engineers that are not IEEE members at all - even if because they cannot afford it - which implies they might not be very good!  :D

Does that mean we might now start seeing the manifestation of "Senior's moments"?

Exactly. Going Senior is the way to go... The alternative is worse...

The mystery teardown has "TeKaDe"-stickers from 1987 on it, a German company producing telecommunications and teletypes. So I would guess the module is the CPU and configuration panel for a kind of switchboard, with option for printout of the config, status, logs etc.

I've seen similar modules in emergency lighting and fire detection systems of the 80s, when modules in 19" racks were standard. And as no one had USB-Sticks at hand, they had printer ports or even a tiny printer module in the rack.
