I found 283 mains double adpters in the dumpster. What happens if you put them all in series with a 2kW load? I'm glad you asked!

All those double adapters - and you still only used a single appliance.   :palm:

I'd be wanting to try it with TWO of those 2kW fan heaters.   >:D

Those double adapters are banned over here (reason: too much mechanical stress for the wall socket). But I'm looking forward to the EEVblog meditation channel promoting Ohm's law. ;D

So that lot dropped 40V.  Dave's only got to scavenge another 1400 or so, and put a shorting plug in the last one, and he can use them for distributed electric heating!

While we are on the subject of things sane people don't stack in series, lets hope his next find is a dumpster full of 9V batteries . . .

I would have bet real money that with that IR camera you would have found a couple that were really hot due to poor assembly. Since you didn't I guess the company has good control over the assembly procedures.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Very nice and funny video, Dave.

In the South-East of France we have a sectarian religion called Aumism.
All followers sing 'Aum' (also written 'OM' and pronounced 'Ohm') all day long.

It looks like they now have a new follower^^.

Guru Gilbert Bourdin (sacred name 'Hamsah Manara') fortunately passed away in 1998.
He and all his followers were really weird people.

I would hope its an automated crimping machine, with wires stripped via an electric controlled stripper.
But yeah could also do a high current test as part of QC.

Dang. Takes little these days to get canceled. :-DD

As to the adapters, even if it was mostly all done for fun, I'm actually surprised that the long chain held up this well with relatively modest losses.

Little? My local home improvement store only stocks 97 double adapters and Dave's got 283 of 'em!

All that copper has to be worth a bit. You should open them all up and snip it out... tell us how much you got for it.

More to the point, what should I do with them now?
I'm thinking maybe a stargate style ring on the wall in the dungeon? Or even the lab? but there is no wall space for it really.

Well, you can arrange them to be in blocks of 30, so you can put a double socket outlet on top of each bench, fed from the floor mounted socket outlet.

You're using a heater for a load.  The adapters give off heat.  Was there really a net loss of overall heat generated?

If you find enough adapters during the dumpster dives,  you could forget the heater and try using 100% adapters.  :-DD

If used with a heater, they waste 0% power! ;)

I think you're forgetting a small, but crucial bit of information here. If you had 283 double adapters connected in series, as demonstrated in the video, you would still need a link (or wire) connected between the active/live and neutral pins of the last double adapter to form a complete circuit. Otherwise you will have a 283-double-adapter-long transmission line without a load at the end.

@Ian.M made this point in an earlier post:
