Hey Dave, are you sure its not your brassy Aussie voice that's registering on the meter?  You sound pretty loud to me.

Maybe they really meant to say 'quite brilliant' and got lost in the translation somewhere. A Chinese shop had a sign saying 'Clean Fashion'. lol. I mean, quietly brilliant doesnt make much sense. But oh my god Dave, you are picky!  :D

I've got another product design fail.

My samsung washing machine plays a song for waaaay too long when it finishes.

This is a STANDARD setting. I dont know how to turn it off.

Its ok if it finishes during the day but sometimes we leave it running overnight and at two am we wake up

to this.....

The cat loves it too as you can see.

Holy...the seriously took the piss with this design.

You are right, there is no reference to the singing in the user manual, I guess they left it as a welcome surprise!

If you ever need to make a DIY singing card you know where to find a controller chip.

You have quite a few options to get rid of the noise:

- move the machine to the basement
- enclose it in polyurethane foam
- reshape it with a sledge hammer
- generously remove useless appendages with C4

All of them will fix it for good.

Even if you should initially insist on taking the machine apart, I guesstimate that after some time of dealing with 'service friendly' hardware, you'll swing back to a more 'physical' approach.

One I hate his how so many devices make a noise when you plug them in to charge, and how they make more noise when they finish charging. My ipod even makes a noise when you have the volume set to zero! I know it's charging! I just plugged the damn thing in!

That's probably the official Samsung company song that all employees are forced to sing every morning before starting their jobs on the Joyous Most Happy Efficient Production Line.

It's "Die Forelle" (The Trout) from Forellenquintett (Trout quintett) by Franz Schubert, famously sung by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

No wonder the cat likes it :D
