I've got another product design fail.

My samsung washing machine plays a song for waaaay too long when it finishes.

This is a STANDARD setting. I dont know how to turn it off.

Its ok if it finishes during the day but sometimes we leave it running overnight and at two am we wake up

to this.....



The cat loves it too as you can see.

Holy...the seriously took the piss with this design.

You are right, there is no reference to the singing in the user manual, I guess they left it as a welcome surprise!

If you ever need to make a DIY singing card you know where to find a controller chip.

You have quite a few options to get rid of the noise:

- move the machine to the basement
- enclose it in polyurethane foam
- reshape it with a sledge hammer
- generously remove useless appendages with C4

All of them will fix it for good.

Even if you should initially insist on taking the machine apart, I guesstimate that after some time of dealing with 'service friendly' hardware, you'll swing back to a more 'physical' approach.

One I hate his how so many devices make a noise when you plug them in to charge, and how they make more noise when they finish charging. My ipod even makes a noise when you have the volume set to zero! I know it's charging! I just plugged the damn thing in!
