Adjustable cooling is great feature actually. First of all there are old 1300W 861DE and 861DA versions with higher airflow, and they may feel too noisy when cooling. Secondly, when doing certain things, you may want to put handpiece on the stand and use it again after a few seconds, which I do very often. In such use case, quick cooling is a big detriment.

I've got the Quick 857DW+ because it was cheaper than the 861. It is also smaller and less powerful. But fine for beginners on a budget.

I've got the Quick TR1100. It works very well for removing small parts like 1206 and much smaller without blowing other parts of the board because the air flow is adjustable over a very wide range and the supplied nozzles start from 1.5 mm diameter.

The only trouble is the Software.
1. The touch buttons are not very responsive / difficult to use. The responsiveness is not always the same. Very annoying when you want to change the temperature from 150...380 for example.
2. A loud fan keeps running for a very long time when in standby. You have to use the power switch on the back of the unit to switch it off completely which I find annoying.
3. When the unit goes into standby, it can be difficult / impossible to turn the unit back on with the touch button. An option is to power cycle the unit with the switch on the back.

But, there aren't many affordable options out their for hot air soldering stations with small nozzles for under 1K and apart from the problems it has saved me lot's of time.

This unit under review has "conventional" buttons and might be easier to operate. I would be interested to see how the buttons respond when adjusting the air flow and temperature over a wide range.

I like how this unit can also set of the office on fire by just talking to someone else.
