I'd just purchased this educational robot kit made by Elenco for my kid, and would not have
given its microcontroller a seconds thought were it not also a product from Elan Micro Corp.
Unlike the Braun, this uses a 78P156 8bit uC.

Further browsing of the http://www.elenco.com pdf catalog revealed the 200-in-one electronics kits, the MX-907.
Is this the same all-in-one kit Dave talks about?

Yes that's the very same one .Been around along time those kits have .I bought one from Tandy  in the 80's .
