If anyone is interested in the video of the tin whisker growing, it can be found here http://www.engin.brown.edu/faculty/Chason/research/whisker1.html

Pcb design magazine had an article this week about another problem
Flux remnants under smd capacitors can react and cause a wire to grow on the surface of the capacitor, eventually shorting out the cap. Ceramic capacitors are affected. The tin seems to like the surface structure and stick to it...

Yep, I  saved the link for watching later... Didn't have the time to see when it was posted. I think we'll have to start saving everything since there's always someone blocking content (or forcing people to block it).

I guess some people don't understand that once something's on the Internet it's there forever.

Anyone who wants the video can pm me, I downloaded back then the 720p version (460MB).

He filmed someone's lecture at a conference. I think there was a misunderstanding and he didn't have permission to upload it publicly in the first place. So yeah.
Whoa! How the hell did Dave know that Bob is my uncle? Amazing!

Upload it somewhere and post for everyone. Maybe mega.co.nz?

I could post it publicly but I honestly don't think it would be fair for Dave. It's his recording, he did agree to take it down on those guys' request so...

if people are really interested in the video and have some contributions here I'm willing to give them a copy.

I did not check for the video , yet , but did look in my finder and I did download the article .
But I would guess that would be bad since the video is taken down .
Not sure if making it available somewhere else is an issue , I do not have a website to post it on  ?
NASA - seems to me is a publicly funded / owned , so there info belongs to the taxpayer , but that concept is not worth fighting by myself .
When is the next tea-party ;)

Oh, you're right. I didn't think about that. Request taken.  :-+
I thought someone from youtube took it off without his permission (by law/process request or something).

Tin whiskers are an interesting subject. Would have liked to watch the video.
Will think about it.

I guess if you can't be bothered to read the previous posts, it's your loss.
