EEVblog #37 - Rigol DS1052E Oscilloscope Teardown
« on: August 21, 2012, 08:30:58 am »
Hi everyone,

I just bought a DS1102E here in the UK for less than £300 (excl VAT). It's a great scope for the price.
I have watched #37 a few times now, and it was a major factor in me buying this scope.
I wonder if that 40PIN header that Dave ponders about might be a header for the Logic Analyzer which is the difference between a DS1xxxE and a DS1xxxD.

If so, I wonder does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade an 'E' to a 'D' by simply fitting a duaghter card in, and a connector for the front panel?

I must admit I have never seen the 'D' version and have no idea if it is any good or not, or what other internal differences there might be.

Regards
Kenny.

Hi,
Yes, that 40 pin header is header for LA.
I do not think it is possible to upgrade it with a card... They left unpopulated places on the PCB, where should go the devices for handling the LA logic. You should have bought the D version.
