• If you hook CCFLs to a flouroscent tube ballast, the result will be an explosion of glass from the CFL.

• Any lamp inverter that has a sinlge wire to the lamp will drive them, or you can use the power blocks for EL wire as well.

• Inverters are also sold with CCFLs intended for PC case lighting (no idea why anyone would want to add EMI next to their sensitive electronics...)
