Well, those law things are hard to define. He is not making profit out of his car, maybe there's no problem with that.

very true.

in a previous job, I was working on some software that used to be called 'hobbit' (is now called xymon).  they had to change their name for fear of the movie studio coming after them.  they had NOTHING to do with the subject matter and, in fact, are not even a commercial company (its open source) but they were advised to change their name to avoid 'trouble'.

it does not even matter if you are right.  if they have more money, they can drown you in legal costs and win that way.
