Dave.

Thanks m8.

With those number I can find many infos for the usability of this device under GNU/Linux (I think this one does work with snd_usb_audio module).

Not sure why it matters:

You showed clearly in the video that the device uses BB/TI PCM2704 USB audio DAC.  That IC implements standard USB 1.1 Audio Device Class.  Therefore it should work, regardless of VID/PID, with any modern operating system.

The only USB devices that do not work with Linux are those with proprietary protocols.

The SMSC USB2512 is interesting, however.  Is it used to change the VID/PID, or to multiplex a second USB IC?  Is the volume control soft (via the PC) or hard (in the speaker)?  PCM2704 appears to support soft volume anyway.

I've been looking for some small desk speakers and I spotted a pair of the 3i model second online but having read a review it states that it isn't great with the iphone because there is no shielding and therefore get all the usual mobile phone noises coming through.
Is it possible/easy/worth doing to retrofit some basic shielding to minimise the noise?
I'm only still considering them because they're cheap and bar the problem would be ideal for my setup.
