It would be good to see a video with your thoughts on the new KiCAD, it has come leaps and bounds since the last video, they have built binaries downloadable for their RC 4.0, I am a LT Altium and Eagle user, didn't like the cloud concept of Circuit Maker, so decided it was time to give KC another go and I stuck with it.
The applications are split, you can run them separately or from within the KC interface itself, it doesn't feel as tightly coupled as with AD but it is similar to Eagle in the fact that you have separate "windows", so it's not that difficult a concept to work with, everything is linked with netlists, the 3D output is decent enough, again, not as good as AD, but better than Eagle
.
It is one of the rare times in life that you actually do get something for nothing though! So considering the cost, it's cross platform native, it will do high speed track tuning if you take the time to learn how to use it, and it has decent 3D output, all for the great price of $0, it's hard to find fault!
I am not affiliated, but I am definitely team KC!
