I Give Up !!

For a long time, ever since I signed up for the EEVBlog, I've bookmarked the front page and this has been my first port of call. However, that link to solar roadways at the top of the page has been there for what seems like forever, in fact we've had the following videos since then:

So, as of now I have two links for the EEV Blog. The first one is to https://www.youtube.com/user/EEVblog/videos where I can see new videos as soon as they are posted rather than missing them because of the Solar Roadways banner. It means that Dave gets a few less page hits but now I don't miss stuff. The second link is direct to the forum, missing out the front page entirely, again I might miss out on some of the advertising but I get to the stuff I read most often.

Yes, I know that the solar roadways is a scam and that folk are going to lose money, but it's now an old story and it needs to vanish from the front page.

I've never really been on the website, does anyone still do? These kind of "portals" are mostly obsolete nowadays... Probably the reason for no/rare updates.
Since EEVBlog is mostly about videos and on Youtube I get the news through Youtube subscription, then Patreon when applicable, and last on the forum to see what's popular/discussed most.

Yes, I am talking about problems on the website front page. I'm a regular contributor to the forum and a regular viewer of the videos, both of these activities will continue..

I follow his YouTube channel and the forum is viewed through Tapatalk. I hardly ever visit the eevblog homepage.

The website says 'featured video', not 'latest video'.

Maybe it is on purpose to have that one take top position on that page for a while, to highlight it.

I actually want this video to be a random one, so the content is different each someone visits, but I haven't figured out how to do this yet.
I have a random blog post on the side bar, but I really want a random embedded youtube video as the first post.

Are content producers able to identify from whence a video is viewed, ie: directly on Youtube, forum link, twitter page, etc, and does it matter in any way or change anything, is a view classed as a view regardless ?.

Also, some Youtube channels include other peoples content under their own umbrella or sneaky raincoat, who gets the view for these or it it split ?.

Last one, should I be concerned about giving a thumbs up on a deserving video ?, generally I dont bother as it requires signing in to Google but if it makes a difference then I could probably make a valid effort if required, a thumbs up Thursday perhaps.

Yes, all that data is available for each video.
For example, I know that 246 views on my Solar Roadways Are Bullshit video came from teslamotorsclub.com in the last month.

A view is a view.

Not sure what you mean here. If the video is on your channel then you get the view for it.

Thumbs up (and when they happen and at what rate) add to the engagement value for each video which ultimately adds to your channel ranking and how your videos are ranked and offered up as recommended videos etc. it's a snowball thing. It's why Youtubers keep telling you to rate and comment, it's all engagement and it's important for channel growth.

The umbrella question referred to channels that have other peoples content and nothing of their own, in the light of day it turns out they are just playlist channels so no real issue, do playlist channels get a kickback of some type ?.

The 'DIY Tesla Generator' advert at the bottom is covering the 'Advertise Here' section...
What happened to the links to other blogs, there is not even a link to EEVBlog2...

I recall Dave saying in a video that he is most likely to read comments on the blog pages, so that's a good reason to start there – in case you'd like to comment to Dave directly. But the recent video doesn't have a page yet. Phooey!
