How to find livestream?
« on: April 15, 2016, 11:08:37 pm »
As a Patreon supporter I was sent a notification that Dave would be livestreaming his scope giveaway (taking place right now), but the included link just goes to a page showing the time in Sydney and the time in my home town (and now the helpful note that the event is in progress).  I assumed it would be replaced with the livestream at the appointed time, but no luck.  No other link to the livestream there or on the EEVblog web site.  How did people find out where to go to see it?

Just and FYI you had about 412 live on YouTube and 15 on UStream.
But some tips for the next live broadcast, just from a user viewer point of view.

I think you can schedule a live broadcast on YouTube so it shows under your eevblog video listing were I was looking for it.
I found out the hard way, that you have to be on the main eevblog YouTube to see the live broadcast if its wasn't scheduled.

With UStream I had to refresh the page when you started the live part, I had nothing but a picture of your lab then realized it was running and when I did a refresh on USteam it started. Maybe this is because you changed cameras? I don't know since I just now signed up for UStream 30 minutes before the live broadcast was to start but never did a live broadcast with UStream before.

And also you mentioned the best way to stay up to date with giveaways and stuff was to follow you on twitter, but you never tweeted the YouTube live URL or the UStream URL on twitter. Maybe take a second next live broadcast and send out a tweet once the stream starts?

Besides those ideas and suggestions I thought it went well. Good job. I hope the ideas help things go smoother for others who never watched a live YouTube or UStream for the next live broadcast.

I tried looking for the Youtube and the Ustream feeds.  Found the Ustream one first and started watching that - then a (too bloody long) advertisement popped up right as Dave was announcing a winner.  After a few frustrating moments, I gave up and picked up the Youtube feed.

Seems you have to be in the right place at the right time or you'll miss the start.
