Fundamental Fridays - Input Protection
« on: October 01, 2013, 10:00:38 pm »
Hi guys,
I'm sure there is a huge backlog of ideas for the vblog but a run through the various options of basic microcontroller input protection could be great.
Current limiting, Over voltage protect, transients, reverse battery, esd protection, pull-up, pull down. usual stuff
From simple resistor, RC, MOVs, clipping diodes all that jaz.

Once you get into it, its quite a big topic but it would be great to get Dave's ideas on a few Good, Better, Bullet proof design ideas. What great about Dave's approach is that the basic reasons behind the designs get explained...and thats mostly lacking with most of the other stuff on the net.
what do you guys think?
Jay.
