I wasn’t sure if it’s appropiate to even post a link to an EEVblog2 short here. I decided to do so for the benefit of our 8-legged friends.

I call to everybody from all around the world: check how many spider species are in your area that are venomous to humans.(1) For example down here in Poland there are just a few, all of which you find in caves, not in urbanized areas. Seeing a spider is therefore not of concern. Unless your neighbour had an exotic one that ran way, in which case it is still less dangerous than their dog.
 
Other places are less lucky. But still: seek information and learn. Recognizing danger and fear are two very different things.


(1) “Venomous to humans” doesn’t mean there are some people with allergic reactions. This can happen for literally anything and it’s unreasonable to avoid something unless you’re tested to be sensitive. I’m talking about venom that is likely to be dangerous to a random person and to a notable extent.
