Inserting attached images inline.
« on: December 08, 2019, 12:50:57 pm »
Could somebody tell me how to insert attached images inline?

Other people suggested:
Quote
save your blog with the images attached. Then copy those images hyperlinks (in most browsers right-click then copy link).
Edit your post again.
Navigate to where you want your image.

Press the Image button above the editor.
Put the url between the two image tags that just appeared.

This works, but inserts full-size image, which could be like 2500x1600 or more, while attachment code supports thumbnails.

I noticed that the list of attachments provides links:
Code: [Select]
[Insert Attachment 1 in the message]
[Insert Attachment 2 in the message]
...

which inserts attachment code:
Code: [Select]
[attach=1]
But it also seems to be broken, because you cannot save post with this  code.

I tried putting it inside
Code: [Select]
[img][/img]block, but still no luck.

Other forums suggest that SMF code may support attachimg, attachthumb, etc. But these also do not seem to work.

Am I doing something wrong?

I notice the [ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] is not working for me either.

I think there is a discrepancy between what the attachment dialog says and does.

I have learned just to live with it.

Despite the various options are shown, inline image attachments only worked for a brief amount of time in the history of this forum.

To attach an image, you can post normally attaching one or more images (they will all be shown at the bottom of your post as attachments).

With the new post created, you can copy each image link to a text file. Then, click on Modify to edit your post and use the SMF img directive.

To reduce the size of the images, use either width or height (check here).

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

The width/height attribute will not generate a thumbnail.
You will wait for the full 10 megabyte, 20 megapixel image to download and then for the browser to scale it down for display.

Personally, I either resize the images to ~1000px before uploading or post them as attachments only.
