Keysight are giving away $300k worth of test gear as part of their Keysight University Live event:
http://bit.ly/KU_EEV (http://bit.ly/KU_EEV)
THIS IS NOT THREAD TO POST "I'm in", this is the thread:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/contests/giveaway-keysight-dsox1204g-oscilloscope/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/contests/giveaway-keysight-dsox1204g-oscilloscope/)
PLUS Dave is giving away 5 x DSOX1204G oscilloscopes and one each of the NEW educational Keysight gear:
EDU34450A 5.5 digit multimeter:
http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/EDU34450-90002.pdf (http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/EDU34450-90002.pdf)

LINKS COMING SOON to the forum and other giveaways! Check back in a little bit.
As per the video:

-
And I thought I was the first one to comment :-DD
-
i'm the second :P
pretty nice gear, nice of knight to be doing giveaways.
-
Ooh... very nice.
I'm so jealous of your dumpster!
-
With my limited electronics knowledge I'm sure I could blow one of those scopes in short order.
Could have used some better equipment to try and decode the signal in order to hack my Greenworks 60V mower.
-
Can't wait for the "I'm in" thread: I'm shifting careers from engineering to education, and I'm gonna need more lab equipment!
-
EDU34450A 5.5 digit multimeter:
http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/EDU34450-90002.pdf (http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/EDU34450-90002.pdf)
Shame it's not a 6.5 digit (and then of course people will want longer and longer), but with the graphing features in modern bench multimeters, should be great. I've been thinking the Keithley's seem a little nicer, but I love the big screens, really helps when you don't have the instrument right there with you.
EDU33212A Function Generator:
https://docs.rs-online.com/d5bd/A700000007406012.pdf (https://docs.rs-online.com/d5bd/A700000007406012.pdf)
This looks pretty good, for my own personal use 30MHz of square would come in handy, but I have generators that do that fine (and a few arb's, this is one I'd skip).
EDU36311A Power Supply
https://docs.rs-online.com/3089/A700000007406024.pdf (https://docs.rs-online.com/3089/A700000007406024.pdf)
If this has basic graphing of voltage & current it'd be great, and I'm currently lacking a keysight bench supply, all my HP/Agilent linear ones are now gone, and whilst I have two mainframes for the 6700 series, they're not the greatest to use as bench supplies.
-
Interesting gear indeed! I have seen oscilloscopes and function gens in that formfactor but it is the first time I see a multimeter and power supply looking like that.
-
The Dave’s dumpster has a worm hole connection with Keysight HQ!
And yes I'm in, probably with my mass the worm hole will collapse to a black hole and suck all test equipment.
-
Shiny!
-
Gee's I seriously need a dumpster like Dave's close to me.
-
OK. People from Spain and Italy, FORGET IT!.,... We do not belong to the club.
From Terms &Conditions:
" This promotion is limited to specific countries and is only open to entrants aged 18 years or older (if in the United States: 19 years for Alabama and 21 years for Mississippi) at the time of submission who are legal residents of, and physically located within, Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec), USA (excluding New York, Florida, and Rhode Island), Puerto Rico, Japan, South Korea; Taiwan, China; Chile, Austria, Finland, India, France, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, UK, South Africa,"
of course I'm in for the dumpster! (I wish i have a dumpster near by like that!,... well I have one but I only find beer cans and bottles, here in Alicante! hehe)
-
first I am not using this as an entry as this is my first post here somehow
but have to say that I agree stackability would be very nice feature to add EX to the edu line and the lower trim ones often used in home labs where space is a premium
as for the teardown I would like the powersupply to be first as I personally feel they are the hardest to "cut corners" on and are often very pricey for good "lab quality" units ++ they are more interesting in design - not saying I dont want a look under the "hood" of the other pieces
-
All my scopes are Tek. It's about time for Keysight to donate me one of theirs ;)
-
let's try one more year. this time may be ?

Better to have small shelves to fit the instruments reasonably tight, just enough for good airflow. Much more stable than stackable light weight tall and short instruments... I have a recessed shelf right over my desk for the small, modern instruments, like my humble scope and a few others mostly home built, and a deeper one on top of that for the more vintage larger ones... Like an analog PS and a matching signal gen.

Hi Dave! does the youtube comment for participation have to say "I'm in" and nothing else? or comments with something after the "I'm in" will also be counted?
Thank you!
-
I'm just a hobbyist doing my degree at uni, but I'm absolutely in like flynn!
That magic dumpster is every electronics enthusiast's dream.
-
I really should diversify my YT subs a bit...
[attachimg=1]
BTW, I'm in
-
Count me in as liking the cosmetic design and uniform form factor.
Really a handsome quartet of test gear.
I almost feel like a traitor living here virtually in the shadow of the Tektronix campus.
What a magical dumpster you have there!
-
Mee too :)
As an advanced hobbyist and low lever professional, one never has enough good instruments, especially a multi-channel lab PSU would be sweet.
-
Hey Dave, Thanks for doing the giveaway, I know tons of people that really need TE and while you might not be able to help them all even helping some of these up and coming engineers will make a difference. Of course I'm in like flynn too. I am a 16-year-old student from Greece wanting to get an EE degree,
I have been developing recently laser drivers of all topologies and sizes(constant current SMPSs) An open-source 1-30v 0-5A CC CV PSU specifically designed with safety features to keep the sensitive laser diodes safe and it also connects to a second board (stacked below the output module) With some 16 bit ADCs not only to read voltage and current but to also make some basic graphs over time with their 100ks/s rate. Any microcontroller can be used with them that supports SPI.
-
I'm I stupid, or this thread was supposed to be used to discuss abount the video, like if we like the scope form factor, etcc. and the link for the entry will be posted later?
-
Hi Dave,
I really love your forum and video's :)
-
He already told everyone in the video that this forum is not for the draw, only for discussion :palm:
-
Can't wait for the "I'm in" thread: I'm shifting careers from engineering to education, and I'm gonna need more lab equipment!
:-BROKE

Can't wait for the "I'm in" thread: I'm shifting careers from engineering to education, and I'm gonna need more lab equipment!
:-BROKE
So you're now going to spam the thread moaning how butt-hurt you are with people spamming the thread? Great first two posts, dude, really valuable contribution :-+
-
I am in.
Would be happy to replace my old faithful Rigol 1054Z or get some new func gen or multimeter ;D
-
The size of the DMM is mad :D I'm in for sure.
-
Is it possible that Keysight are reducing production costs in the Edu range by having the same plastic shells for all products? A PSU that size is kind of unwanted, but if it makes things cheaper for universities, it can't be a bad thing.
-
As someone trying to bootstrap myself up into the world of better gear I'm in but don't hold out much hope. I would love to update my 4000 count 3.5 digit MM to something better, or my 2 channel 100Mhz scope, or get a signal generator.
I'll still watch the giveaway, get some ideas for future wishlists.
-
Is it really <$2000 for all 4 of those? Cause if that's true that's one hell of a deal!
-
I am in.
I was so keen to be in so that I startrd this string https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/keysight-new-instruments/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/keysight-new-instruments/)

I already have a modern oscilloscope so the selfless thing would be not to participate. Who am I kidding?... I'm in. :-DD
-
I'm in as well.
Thank you.
-
i am in
i don't own an oscilloscope, but i could use one
-
I have learned a lot from this forum and from the YouTube channel! I wish i get some hands-on experience , cause that's the only way I think someone can learn.
Thanks for this opportunity!
I'm in! Again I guess!
-
I'm in! Maybe this time... :)
-
I'm in. Thanks Keysight and Dave for a nice giveaway!
-
Hi,
I know I'm a little outside the target demographic but I might as well give it a shot.
I'm a high school sophomore (10th grade) and for the past couple years I've been playing around with microwave circuit design. This year I built two radars: a GPR that cost under $50 COTS and a X-band radar with a resolution of 3 cm at -43 dBm output power. Only issue?
I don't have any test equipment except for a nanoVNA, a DMM, and an out of spec analog oscilloscope. This has been causing a lot of problems. I think I spent close to two months while working on the radars because of a simple analog issue that I couldn't find without an oscilloscope.
I think I can put the gear to good use, I always would love to take more about my projects, or to answer any questions!
-
Let Me In -- it is nice to have them even after a long time of waiting.
You can donate them for a University!
-
I'm in! There can never be too much test hear :-+
-
I am in as well, crossing the digits, thanks.
-
Not bad entry level test gear. Nice to see lower price points. Bummer they don't stack.
-
I am in.
Is this the "I am in thread" though?
Enviable dumpster Dave.
One oscilloscope to go, please.
Until I win my crusade for direct selling, I will need an oscilloscope to keep my sanity.
-
I am In!
Would love one of these! :)
Thanks yet again for all the great content Dave!
Thanks yet again Keysight for the great annual giveaways like this.
Edit: forgot the I am in part! :D

Every time, same confusion with giveaway and discussion threads, I hope people won't miss the giveaway by replying at the wrong place.
What comes to the formfactor seen on video, I can't decide if I like it or not. On the other hand, it is always nice to have matching set of test equipment, but modern scopes do not stack nicely on the shelf at all. Plugging jacks in will be two hand job, or otherwise whole bin will fall down faster than you can reply "I'm in" to giveaway thread :D
-
For anyone trying to follow the live Keysight videos associated with this, which just started in theory, looks like they've borked something - the kulive.keysight.com portal is giving a '502 bad gateway'.
-
None of the links in Keysight youtube opening video worked. Two give gateway error, and two point to each other. It is confusing as hell Where is the March 15 video? Anyone got a working lnk to it?
-
This is NOT the "i am in" thread, is it ?
"This is NOT where you enter for the draw!:" ... according to the YouTube video description. So I don't think so.
But I could be wrong.

Yeah, I couldn't figure it out either.
-
Yeah.... typical Keysight...
-
I haven't posted in the forum for a long time but I've been around for several years so I promise I'm not a new user and just posting to enter into the competition. It would be nice to receive some test gear though -- I cannot lie about that.
-
Yeah.... typical Keysight...
This is the live stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk-5RR09s_4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk-5RR09s_4)
-
Well well it seems the page is down from Keysight, at least is for me.
-
I wouldn't mind one of those babies either... ::)
-
Where did you get that link? I spent good 30 min trying to find one and all i got was cross references to keysight event sign up page (which i did)
-
Awesome news all around. Can't wait for the proper "I'm in" thread!
-

From the KULive Kickoff video comments section.
They say: "The Keysight University Live page is having some trouble, but we'll be live shortly! <some link> EDIT: for now, you can see the main stream here: <the live stream link>"
-
I'm in I would love a upgrade to the old HM 1507
-
I am NOT in..
-
I'm a newbie to this forum. But I'm very interested in your video on youtube. Hope that I can enter the draw too.
-
I'm not sure if "I'm in" the right topic :-DD

From ultranalog
I'm not sure if "I'm in" the right topic :-DD
I am sure that I am not sure :-//
-
"YouTube... about page... contactable..."
What the..? How..? I dunno how to check this, nor where to enter anything?
-
Wrong thread, people!
I'm a bit conflicted about the form factor. It doesn't come across as being intended this way from the start. It just seems someone looked at an oscilloscope and went "hmmm". The kit not being easily stacked isn't convenient. I'll hold off on judgement until I can try them or can see someone else try them though. It may be better than it looks at first glance. I feel Keysight deserves a bit more leeway than a random cheap outfit and may have actually thought about it.
-
>Wrong thread, people!
Thank you so much. You so helpful :palm:

http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/EDU34450-90002.pdf (http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/EDU34450-90002.pdf)
If you follow that link, it seems to have a link to an interesting datasheet (inside that pdf, around page 94), which doesn't work properly. Apparently (current) correct link follows:
Bad link is:
https://www.keysight.com/us/en/assets/3120-1002/data-sheets/EDU34450A-5-5-Digit-Dual-Display-Digital-Multimeter.pdf (https://www.keysight.com/us/en/assets/3120-1002/data-sheets/EDU34450A-5-5-Digit-Dual-Display-Digital-Multimeter.pdf)
Corrected GOOD link is:
https://www.keysight.com/gb/en/assets/3121-1002/data-sheets/EDU34450A-5-5-Digit-Dual-Display-Digital-Multimeter.pdf (https://www.keysight.com/gb/en/assets/3121-1002/data-sheets/EDU34450A-5-5-Digit-Dual-Display-Digital-Multimeter.pdf)
-
Well, probably not in, and switching to odysee isn't all that promising. No (official) RSS, and one cannot download videos directly (or at all?) with youtube-dl as I'm used to with the somewhat hidden Youtube RSS feeds. While mirroring videos on different platforms is a great idea, I think I might be stuck with Youtube for a bit longer.
Dave needs to hurry up with the giveaway thread link, though...
-

There seems to be an optional stacking kit.

Thank you so much. You so helpful :palm:
Well, it is the wrong thread. Read the video description and see this thread is explicitly linked as not the contest thread. This one is to talk about the kit. The proper link is t.b.a. so there's not much more to say.
-
The vid made me realize I've never actually gotten on the forum! Read enough content here over the years...
I actually like the huge meter if there's bench space. Bit less likely to get accidentally knocked around.
-
I never win anything but hey, it's all good fun entering anyway.
-
I just redecorated my lab, and these machines will match the work surfaces perfectly! $2k for all 4 - maybe a little pricey, but for the educational market that is probably a bargain. They look really nicely designed, I'm looking forward to the reviews and teardowns.
-
I am in. Been trying to win something since they started. I want mine signed by you Dave if I win..My son would appreciate it next to his eevblog MM.
-
"I'm in" - I'm a Low Budget Electronics Hobbyist that love your channel and forum and need this awesome scope to give life to several DIY projects ;)
-
Ahhhh yes Keysight mmmmmmmmm
Sick of my 30 year old tektronix scope:(

-
Did you have some footage you planned to share about the instruments btw? Curious to see what your experience was.
-
They look great, can't wait for the teardown, yes all of them please!
-
It's the second day and I'm lost again.
Anyone know where should I go for the second day live stream?
The video on KULive right now (Will My Face Boost Car Key Range?) doesn't appear to be a live stream.
EDIT: I finally got it. Evidently I have to re-enter my data into the "Enter Now --- Sign me up" form again, despite already registering previously.

I'm in.
I am glad to see Keysight is coming up with an offering for the education/hobbyist market, so there are more options beyond the Chinese brands. Love to see the software that comes with it and how it compares with Benchvue.

LINKS COMING SOON to the forum and other giveaways! Check back in a little bit.
I'm wondering where to post the stories for the Dave's pick?
I did not think about Dave's pick initially. But (while watching Keysight University live) I remembered about my first encounters with a scope. In 70ties at kindergarten age 😀 Today I posted (https://www.facebook.com/jtupulis/posts/3696333110403850) it on FB. And, you can take a look at the attempt on review here (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/soviet-oscilloscope-c1-1-teardown-(coming)/msg1602061/#msg1602061) on EEVblog. With pictures 😉

Dave is the real Dr Who, he pulls this stuff out of the future from the Dumpster wormhole. Sometimes from the past too....
I love the new colour of this keysight gear its winner winner chicken dinner in my eyes.
I’m in Like Flyn.
IM a home hobbyist that tinkers and builds things and learning from this forum and others. THis Chanel is a bit more exciting though and has good pace and explanations compared to others. So keep it up and keep it dumb for us fairly inexperienced guys please.

Im in.

The EDU-series DMM just looks like odd. Like it just doesn't fit right, and is awkwardly large while not taking advantage of its size.
I still don't have a benchtop DMM (but many handheld ones), though if I did get one it would likely be something in a more conventional shape.
The rest of them, while different from the regular versions, look far more normal in their design.
-
Is it really that hard ..... ?

And now, after all these years, I still get excited whenever I work with a scope. It's been a long journey since those kindergarten days, but my passion for electronics and testing equipment has only grown stronger. I've also had the chance to explore various scopes and technologies over the years, which has been incredibly interesting.
Here https://graduateway.com/plagiarism-checker/ (https://graduateway.com/plagiarism-checker/) you can find more info about it. I'd love to hear more about other people's experiences, too. Did anyone else have early encounters with scopes or other test equipment that sparked their interest in the field? How has your journey evolved since then? I believe sharing our stories can not only bring us together but also inspire newcomers to the world of electronics.
Veiksmi,
Jānis
I saw your post on Fb and I was very surprised because when I was little my dad had the same oscilloscope which he brings from the USSR, it's very nostalgic.
