When you load that page, a variable on the server for "last visited" is updated. Then some time after that, maybe 15 minutes, the next reload is counted is counted as a new visit and you instead get new topics since your "last visited" time, which is 15 minutes or whatever the limit is set to on this forum. This is not a bug, but the way the forum software is intended to work.

Maybe interesting for you. You can see a list of all your posts:

You can also find this link by clicking profile at the top and then show my posts.

Another possibly interesting link. See the 100 last posts with no time limit:

You can find this link on the forum front page if you go down down to recent posts and click the icon to the left of the the words recent posts.

Does the 'show all unread topics' button on the bottom right help? Here is a direct link. It's also possible that you accidentally clicked 'mark all messages as read'. I don't think there's a way to recover from that.

@nitro: i used "Show unread posts since last visit." button at top left.
@alm: your link is working, i have 9 pages of unread topics now thanks. usually i'll browse page by page. interesting topics i'll open in another tab, when i'm done with a page i'll click "select all" and "mark selected read" then i'll have the next page (minus one page from all). this is where its usually hanged. i reloaded and get empty or only few page. it happened several time already.
fyi: this thread is not updated in my "unread topic" (luckily i manually open this thread again) i wonder why i'll need to check my "ignore section" setting.

I find the unread topics system resets to zero unread if you let it get more than a 4 or 5 pages long.

Coming through loud and clear. I gave you suggestions what you could use instead when the system fails for you.

I find the unread topics system resets to zero unread if you let it get more than a 4 or 5 pages long.

I logged in the other evening to find 12 pages (having been offline for a few days!); since the changes to the server a while back I've found it resets more frequently though.  I think it's started counting Safari generating the thumbnail on the new tab page as the 'last visit', whereas previously it didn't.  Bit peculiar, and I'm not sure I can come up with a coherent theory about what changed...
