New blog intro/outro?

I'm kinda liking not having an intro of late, so perhaps this could be the new outro?

I haven't had outro music for the last half dozen videos or something, and no intro for ages now.

I like it but I think it is somewhat monotone.  Some more constrast or color difference  between the screen background and the text would give it a little more pop.

Youtube kept wrongly flagging the music and sending a "please explain", so I dropped it. Their stupid auto copyright detection system.

im not crazy about it. I like the intros where you have a circuit board spinning.

You give in to bureaucracy to easy  don't let them win !!! .Just copy and paste a standard reply to there automatic "please explain" requests and refer them to an explanation you did previously . Something Like : See previous explanation at "your ref " .
The staff will soon get fed up of having to look for "previous ref" and stop sending  the  auto requests  .

The Anim was knocked up quite quickly as i was having a little competition with my son to see if we could make some sort of intro for a video in Blender. Blender is a free 3d animation program see here http://www.blender.org . Neither of us are that great with it, we mainly use it to fill time. With the Intro, I really had no idea what to do, but when watching Dave's YouTube i noticed that his intro had gone. So i got to work last night.

I agree its lacking contrast and looks bland, i will spice it up a little, i had no idea as to what to put in the background and was only really testing the idea of smoke and was not concentrating on the overall look of it.

The big empty space is for adding the title of the video in the center of the screen. I don't know if video editing can software can do it but the idea was that the last frame has the title of the video and any other info and is held for a second or so on the screen before fading to the main content.

These things take a lot of time to render, 7 seconds is about 8 hours of processing time on my machine, so updates will be slow. But if you have a great idea that would be simple for me to add then i will give it a go.

Updated it a little, had to remove old video as YouTube said it was a duplicate and i could not upload it again, very stange..

Hey Dimlow, looks cool with that burn & smoke !

Just a suggestion.

Make the gray background darker, so the EEVBlog logo and especially those cyan text below will stand out, cause they look  pale and hard to read at least to me.




Here the logo from the web site with total black background, it stands out boldly. Probably using white smoke on black background ?

Yep, i was thinking of putting a circuit board image as a background. Will test this in the next version. Been playing with the smoke now, it no longer will go through the ground now.

I certainly like this one. I think it would look best with old intro's music (the one from the spinning FPGA intro).

I like it as an outro.   Please keep skipping the intro, they do become tiring quickly, as AntiProtonBoy said, and you yourself said you are liking not having any intro.

Also, although the smoke is cute (and you're not a real engineer until you've let the smoke out at least once) it does send the wrong message about your blog.  Your blog isn't about
blowing things up (although you've done a few fun episodes), and you're blog isn't about frying electronics.  In fact, I've learned a lot from your blog, Dave, and I think the EEVblog logo
at the bottom should not have smoke, but instead have a graduation cap, or something to signify the transfer of knowledge.  That, I think, sums up your blog better than smoke.
There's a lot of education here and very little smoke.
