A few hours from where I live, Google has been rattling the cages of internet providers.  Check out these plans for Kansas City:

1,000 Mbps up and down with TV & other crap = $120(USD)/Mo
1,000 Mbps up and down (data only) = $70(USD)/Mo
5 Mbps down, 1Mbps up = FREE/Mo

Holy crap, most people don't even have gigabit local networks in their home setup and you can get gigabit internet for 70$/mo? Not bad.

Here in Munich, Germany, I'm getting 40M/3M speed over Coax Cable for 35€/mo, altough that's an old contract and apparently, prices have dropped to 30€/mo for 120M/6M connection. Gotta call the cable company!

An offering from a slightly different company for 100M/12M small business network for 45€/mo

Why is the internet so horribly expensive in australia? Is it just bad politics or is there a specific reason? I mean, in the more rural areas infrastructure costs are probably way higher, but not in the big cities, right?

And for those with higher bandwidth, commercial vs residential doesn't compare. Providers will cap you if you are running a server at home, but they won't cap commercial connections. So his price is really good for a commercial connection!

Edit: BTW Dave, what is the maximum upload usage per month before overages with your new provider.

i just check the website that is in the youtubvideo and for the 8m/8m its around 500gb with a $1 per gb over fee.
