Soldering Station Blog Topic
« on: August 25, 2010, 05:36:26 am »
Dave

I just read that the Hakko 936 has been discontinued.  It has been replaced by Hakko FX-888.

   http://www.hakko.com/english/discontinue/index.html

I think you will have a field day with some of the marketing hype they are giving for the change.  I would love to hear your take on these clames.  As I read some I thought to myself "did they really say that".

I always wanted a soldering iron holder that was 30% quieter.  I am having "fun" picking a color also.

They reduced the footprint on the FX-888 but now the holder is not stackable like the 936 was, so whats the gain?

You should do a mini segment on the 936 vs. FX-888.

Is FX-888 sold in Australia specified to work on 60Hz electricity? I plan to use this in the Philippines which is 220V 60Hz else I'll get a Weller WESD51D.
