Could it be this one?
https://youtu.be/kEp4k8TGzeI?feature=shared

Yep, that's it.

What's your actual question?

Really enjoyed the project and fundamentals videos. We recently offshored a small project at work - thought it could be cool to send the money to Dave and have people learn. Not an ad.

Just a random thought, resulted in the question.

For the really curious, this is what we offshored:
Quote
design NFC RFID 13.56MHz antenna and document schematic

NO IP is to be copied - DO NOT investigate or touch the software.

I am looking for a skilled individual who can document the pcb and schematic for the ETEKJOY ACR122U NFC RFID 13.56MHz Contactless Smart Card Reader Writer and modify it to connect an external antenna.

It is assumed the external antenna will connect at the pads for C25 and C26.

The external antenna will be approximately between 12 inches (0.3 meter) and 15 feet (4.5 meter) away from the PCB.

Parts should be specified from Digikey or Mouser, unless there is an exceptional need.

Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of circuitry and schematic analysis
- Experience with documenting PCB traces and schematic capture and modifying electronic devices
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex schematics
- Knowledge of NFC and RFID technology is a must
- it is expected that you have the ability to perform SMD soldering/desoldering
- it is expected you have a (nano)VNA to tune the antenna

Requirements:
- Provide a modified schematic for the device
- The modified schematic, PCB soldering points, and external antenna circuit
- There is no strict deadline for the completion of this project
- we will pay for up to two devices
- delivered schematic / PCB files will need to be loaded in KiCad
-- 2 sets of files, 1 for AS-IS, 1 for modified external antenna

If you have the necessary skills and expertise, and are interested in helping me with this project, please submit your proposal.

Updates:

Update 1: 2023-08-14T19:46:41+00:00

Q1: do you want a modified ETEKJOY ACR122U or a new brand design based on the ETEKJOY ACR122U?
A1: We will be modifying the existing board (not desoldering the chips) by adding bodge wires to the external antenna and cutting the traces to the original PCB based antenna.

Q2: Will you cover the costs of tools (e.g. nanoVNA)?
A2: No, we will only cover the proposed labor, 1 Taglio PIVKey C910, and 2 ACR122U-A9 devices. Please also see Q10, as this answer was updated.

Update 2: 2023-08-15T14:10:22+00:00

Q3: Will you provide the software?
A3: There is no software, this is a RF hardware only project.

Q4: How far will the cards be from the antenna?
A4: The cards will be presented to a wall mounted antenna between 0.5 inch and 1.5 inch with a typical distance of either 0.625 inch (drywall) or 0.5 inch (plastic and air).

Q5: What size and shape antenna?
A5: The antenna is best if wound around a 1.310 inch x 2.630 inch rectangle.

Update 3: 2023-08-17T23:22:42+00:00

Q6: Can you please provide better photos?
A6: No, you will need the actual devices to tune the replacement antenna. We will reimburse the freelancer for up to 2 devices to have at their desk. Upon award provide a screenshot of the price and we will create a milestone for that price. The milestone will be released when you confirm receipt of the devices.

Q7: Do you have the external antenna?
A7: No, it will need to be made, tuned, and connected. You will need a VNA to tune. As described in Q/A #5, the dimensions of the antenna are rectangular. You may specify the gauge and loop count of the wire. If made as PCB traces, the rectangle will need to be a cut out centered in the PCB, and the PBC must not to exceed dimensions of 2" x 3" edge to edge.

Update 4: 2023-08-18T20:14:01+00:00

Q8: What is the purpose of this project?
A8: To physically separate the USB components and medium and the NFC components and medium, such that there is a barrier between them. At this time modifications of existing hardware makes sense due to the low volume needs.

Q9: What are you trying to achieve with the external antenna?
A9: The USB circuit needs to be located in an area away from the antenna - see "The external antenna will be approximately between 12 inches (0.3 meter) and 15 feet (4.5 meter) away from the PCB" above.

Q10: How do you plan to test the functionality of the modified device?
A10: It is expected the freelancer will test the modifications. If it is needed, you may use a Taglio PIVKey C910 or the test card that comes with the device. We will reimburse for one Taglio PIVKey C910 via milestone payment described above. Please see update to Q&A 2.

Q11: Do you have any specific software or hardware tools that you will use?
A11: Not exactly. ISO and NIST compliant cards will be presented. You may use a Taglio PIVKey C910 for reference.

Q12: What is your budget for this project and how do you prefer to pay for the work done?
A12: No preset budget. Fair and reasonable quotes from freelancers will be entertained. As stated above, if the bid does not instill confidence of completion we will not award.

Q13: How do you want to communicate with me during the project, do you have any preferred channels or platforms?
A13: Email, phone, git, and google drive are the preferred (no order implied) technologies for collaboration. Freelancer provided tools are acceptable.

Not really, that could mean anything.
Like, do I do sponsored videos, or maybe you are asking if I would be a sponsored video for YOU?
The answer is no and no.
Although I did recently think about an EEVlabs channel that would pay for itself through sponsored content:

Cool idea, but not the thoughts we had. We were thinking more along a Patreon style funding for topic request. Would that ever be something EEVBlog would consider.

No ads, no mention of products, companies, etc... just projects or lessons "sponsorship".

Again - not asking to do so, was just wondering...

Again, it's not clear what you are asking for and why.
Are you working for a company that wants me to review their product? Who is "we"?
One thing I have learned wiht Patreon is that everyone wants something different. You'll never get people to agree on anything ever, let alone a majority.

What video explained what you (Dave) was willing or not willing regarding sponsored videos.

Seems predictable.

If you emailed me I could have told you. But I'll add it to my Advertising page.
I get sponsored video requests almost every day.

So you want to sponsor a video? Thanks, but sorry, the answer is no.
I like money, but I make enough, and my audience like that my videos aren't interrupted with "This video is sponsored by..." with the company talking points, baked into the video forever.
That forever part matters to me as the majority of my videos are evergreen content.
I might have a different opinion on that if I was doing daily news topical videos or something.
I've never done a sponsored video in the 14 years I've been doing this. So it'd have to be an insane amount of money, or my other sources of revenue would have to dry up.

We do take sponsors on The Amp Hour podcast.

?

Of course if you liked my content and want to just donate money, I'll gladly take it  ;D
Some people have sent me large donations in the past.

BTW, Patreon is basically just a donation thing. Us electronic Youtubers discuss this a lot privately, and we all get the same thing, barely 5% of Patrons will interact or watch early content etc. 95% seem to just treat it as a "I like your stuff, here have a donation".
