Teardowns but no reviews
« on: November 06, 2014, 09:50:31 pm »
In EEVblog #587 Tekctronix MDO3000 teardown Dave states "a review will follow of cource"
http://youtu.be/VFX47ZGOn_o?t=1h13m30s

I've been looking but I fail to find that review

The same is true for:
#229 IET DE-5000 LCR meter
#234 Agilent U1733C LCR meter. This meter still seams to be with Dave as it appears in #568.

He usually says that if people want a review to ask for it in the comments, but if they didn't ask for it or not enough interest then there is no review.

So next time comment about it and give a thumbs up :)

The tear-downs are interesting, and the whole "don't turn it on, take it apart!" is funny and all - but there's been more then one time I've been yelling at the video asking "Can't you just show the user interface for 10 seconds?!?!?!" 10 seconds, that's all.  Just let me see the darn lights/display/UI!

Serious test gear reviews now constitute a very small proportion of Dave's output. Although this is regrettable one can understand why, given his comments in various threads.

As a professional video blogger he is under constant pressure to generate content, and with all the demands on his time thorough reviews require a great deal of effort for just one video.

Dave has stated that he will only continue the EEVblog for as long as he enjoys doing it and that he and not his viewers gets to pick what he works on. Since he is his own boss there is no-one to impose deadlines and consequently there's a bunch of stuff that he never gets around to.

I would personally love him to produce a typically incisive review of the DS1054Z, or a new set of design videos, or even the long-awaited multimeter showdown, but if the price of his continued presence and enthusiasm is an occasional frustration with the slow production of more in-depth content, I am happy to pay it.

Are you implying he needs a manager? When you think of it every other "content producer" (esp. the successful ones) have one. Be it singers, bands, writers, you name it. Hmmm...
