I was pretty pissed to see this video to be honest. I don't care if this video were just 'on youtube', but I really, really didn't expect this on dave's channel. It was a horrible quality video, extremely unfunny and basically just a big waste of time and components. Really, why would you upload something so far beneath your otherwise pretty decent level of quality? So IMO it was pretty deserved to get the dislikes it got. Also, pretty terrible PR for Agilent.

Hence why I didn't give it an EEVblog episode number, as it's not my content.
I though it was hilarious, so I decided to upload so others could enjoy it as well. If you didn't find it funny, well, that's fine, that's just you.
That was the original quality from the phone, so it was that or nothing.

With hindsight it's obvious why it would piss off those who already think I've been bought out by Agilent 
And of course I knew it was already going to piss off those who send me death threats over destroying multimeters

I didn't see the video. I don't know who made the video.  I don't know why Dave felt obligated to take it down, after the person who made the video got scared. 

Because they asked me nicely if I would please do so.
As the content producer, it's their call, not mine.
I did exactly what I would expect someone to do for me if it was my video and I asked for it taken down.

I thought it was brilliant. Just loved that crunching sound!! Tek deserves to be crushed by the competition if Tek is still dressing up a short memory, noisy acquisition system that they introduced about 16years ago and selling it today with a few newer interfaces like USB etc for about $1,000, ....  twice the price you can get a decent Tekway etc with colour screen, long memory etc. etc.   From what I know of Tek repair costs, this would have been more to fix than buying a new other brand scope with a 3 year warranty (if they would have fixed something that old anyway and not tried to sell you a new one) ..........  Get real folks and lighten up.

SERIOUSLY  !!!!!!      Those things were marvellous 15 years ago........  They are out-dated expensive door-stops today compared to what else is on the market now. As for heritage value I think Tek should distance themselves from this and extol the virtues of the 465. That was a REAL scope.   What if the Land Cruiser drove over a broken 15yr old mobile phone... Would there be all this bitching and moaning?  There's far more technology in the 15yr old phone.

Agreed. They are more like a tank.  But which Land Rover - the one you are driving 50% of the time or the one in for repair 50% of the time?

I honestly didn't get the 'eevblog being bought out by agilent' comments... is that really a thing? Are people also accusing you of selling your soul to Fluke? I mean, there's a difference between fanboyism and actual arguments for the quality of equipment. Agilent and Fluke for that matter both just make excellent quality gear... you usually go into great depth on why you like the products... Ah well.

Anyway, back ontopic: For me it was just jarring to see out of place content is what I was trying to say. On youtube, people subscribe to you expecting a certain quality and style of content. If this were up on a channel posting mostly this kind of content, it wouldn't have gotten a tenth of the negative attention, even with the same number of subscribers. It doesn't matter if you think it was funny or you liked the video, it was out of place. Most 'popular' youtubers who want to do something different set up a separate channel to do so, because this isn't the first time this kind of shitstorm happened. I don't like to see the channels I like to make these kinds of mistakes, it breaks the experience for me.

Although, it doesn't usually lead to less attention or subscribers. If anything, negative attention is a potent way to gain viewers

Unfortunately its true. I get comments all the time that I've "sold out" to whoever.
They are as clueless as their comments

Yep, fair call, I think you are right. I didn't really think before uploading. With hindsight it should have gone on my Altzone channel. Or maybe should have added some context commentary in my style before showing the clip at the end.

My only complaint is that a crappy Toyota was used rather than a proper 4WD like a Landrover.

That would be the biggest danger of this video.. Toyota not wanting to see thier name associated with something like tek ..

What do you mean a Landy is a half and half car. I used to drive one that was affectionately known as a weekend vehicle. The security at the dealership though I worked there, as i would take it up the ramp instead of waiting for the service lane, that is when it did not arrive on a tow truck. Never anything major, just the little things, like leaks, burst pipes, blown engines, faulty lights, faulty seats, and other minor quibbles. At least it was not a Freelander, the first gen of them had some major issues.
