EEVblog #197 - RAW! Testing µCurrent's, Keithley Current/Voltage Sources

Great idea, I suspect it won't attract as many people as the regular videos, owing to the lack of a specific subject. So rather than dilute the EEVBlog brand, maybe call them EEVRaw or something? Just a thought anyway.

Watching the screen while you actually do stuff can be tricky to say the least. Now you have a Mumble server, how about opening a public channel when you do raw streams, so people can talk to you?

It's the same conundrum with the regular Live show, and other "off-topic" videos. Do I number them with the EEVblog ###, or not?
I decided quite some time back to just number every video regardless of it's content and be done with it. As I figured if people aren't intelligent enough to read the title and decide if they want to watch it, then they have bigger problems than the numbering 
I figure once I start down the slippery slope of only numbering certain episodes, then it's one step away from having a different channel entirely for different content.

On the contrary I enjoyed watching Dave actually do something with his hands as opposed to plain talking. In my mind the perfect EEVblog would be watching over Dave's shoulder as he works on a project designing measuring and figuring out things. You know "hands-on" stuff. Second channel? Nah.. You hardly fill up this one Dave

I liked this format better than the regular Live show. Watching a recording of the Live show after the event is honestly not that interesting, whereas this had a bit more to it than just talk.

Personally I love the even less scripted "Raw" style.  I would like to see more "Dave stream-of-conciseness".

Any idea when these uCurrent's will be available for purchase from your site?  I deal with these type of low current/low voltaage measurements on a routine basis and would love to have a uCurrent so I don't have to fight with burden voltages.

For the newbie devotees among us, how's about just a short explanation of what these little µCurrent boxes are for. What are they typically used for? Ditto for the 3 big µCurrent test boxes on your workbench. What is their purpose?

"µ" is "micro" in the same way that (upper case) Omega is the symbol for ohms. No one says "22 Omega" or "22 mu Amps" after all.

Yep, just like people say "10 mike" for 10µ", because saying "mu" isn't kosher. "Kay" is kosher.
It's all about using the accepted lingo
