Shame you aren't in the USA, cause I would pick that up in a heartbeat.  Good luck with finding him a new home!

Or Australia...

I have a 5004A Signature analyser bought locally many years ago, but it gets little use.  It is still a neat item to own.

The 5004 is only a signature analyzer but the 5005 is also a multimeter and a frequency counter.

Yep, exactly.  And I'd love to have both models (TEA) ... but I cannot justify the cost especially with international shipping.

They're impressive looking instruments but Signature Analysis is dead except for a very few legacy systems that had SA capabilities and the meter functions can be replaced with a cheap Chinese made meter today.  So there is no really good case for using a 5004 or 5005 IMO.  I have a 5005 and I think a 5004 but I haven't used either one in over 10 years. Since I retired I've been collecting some very old TE, such as my HP 8405A Vector Voltmeter, and repairing it just for the hell of it but I doubt any of it will ever be useful again.

HP 5005B arrived yesterday.
Everything all good and very well packed. A smooth transaction.

Why do people remove all the detail from the original post?

Sure, it's no longer available - but the information provided is always a useful reference.

*sigh*

I agree, the information can be useful, even years later.

That is why the first reply should always "quote" the original text.
