Hello Gents & Gals,

As some of you know: I participate in the occasional auction. I attempt to win enough for a given location so i can organise shipment. That sometimes works, and sometimes, well, not so much...

In that case, I try to dig up a local guy that's interested and can pick it up. This time:

Hillsboro

HP8595E, 6GHz SA, Call was good untill end 2017.Options:
118 or 119 (?)
130 Narrow Res BW

HP8657B 2GHz RF Gen
Option 003 Modulation

If you want one of these, you may be asked to pick up the other and support me to get it shipped to another forum member inside the US (shipping fee payed for, obviously)

Newbury Park

HP8664A 3GHz RF gen Options:

001: High stability time base with EFC
004: Low noise option
008: Pulse modulation
(010): Not sure about this one but: Reduced leakage configuration

If you are interested, shoot me a PM (or comment below). If the units don't work, you will not be held to buy the unit but I may still ask me to support me on logistics. Working unit does not mean it is 100% within spec: most of them are out of calibration, some for some time. But it does mean there's no obvious damage, no missing features and if it were to be send of for calibration it would be possible to make the needed adjustments. You're also supposed to be able to put in a new fuse or fan or... if needed.

This may seem obvious to you, but I have no idea where these places are, much less which country. We have both of these areas in my state (USA), but so does other states.

Too much for such small quantities. Hence the search for local folk

If you're looking for an SA and can live with 3GHz-ish: I have an Advantest CRT SA with nasty screenburn for cheap, some HP8594E's for a-bit-less-cheap and CMU200's (which include both a 2.7GHz RF gen and SA) for a bit more.

If 6GHz is a must have: in a few weeks I'll have an Anritsu MS8604A (which includes a 8GHz SA I believe).

As I would assume people might want to see a price attached to this:

HP8595E : 1k$
HP8657B: 250$

HP8664A: 700$

If it doesn't sell for these prices, I'll drop'm untill it does

So i too made purchases on this auction, and need to organize shipment. Perhaps you and i could come to some kind of mutually beneficial arrangement? I need to get my purchases from Hillsboro OR and San Jose, CA to Texas. Where are you looking to get your items shipped to?

Depends, really. I would suppose that shipping that stuff to the EU would still be too expensive, even though I'd be happy if you could prove me wrong. So, perhaps it would already be a great help if you could help to ship it 'anywhere in the US'?

Accidently, I also have units in San Jose. As I have 'critical mass' there, I will be engaging a packer/shipper for that. Perhaps you could piggy-back my solution for San Jose and I could do the same for your Hillsboro solution?

Wouldn't hurt to see if we could mutually benefit from this jiggsaw

I'm assuming it's the same auction. I'm also getting the auction house to give me a quote on shipping from Hillsboro, OR to MA on the one item I bought at the auction. Haven't gotten a quote from them yet, but if their markup is high and someone is already going to be going there, I'm willing to split the markup with them so we both win.

On this one, the bidding was light for lots in Canton. I "won" several lots in Canton for $25 each (opening/minimum bid).
I barely "won" the 3458A in Hillsboro ($3034 vs $3000 underbid). If that is clean and working, it's an OK but not spectacular price I think.

Got my quote. $378 to pack and ship a 3458A.

If someone trustworthy on EEV were local out there and wanted to take a slice of that for themselves, I'd be more than open to it. Otherwise, I pay the man...

Yeah got something similar.

i'm trying to see if I can just pay the packaging and handling and have them charge my fedex account. But I think it's expensive because they need to send someone over there to pickup the item and package it.

So yeah I would also be interested if someone could get there (San Jose and Hillsboro).

I've got my cousin checking on Hillsboro to see if he knows anyone who wants to make a couple hundred bucks as a gopher for a half-day schlepping parcels.

And I still wouldn't mind someone buying it of me. That person may make a few extra box performing gopher duties for others, or so it seems.

Had a quote for another auction for the packing of 23 units (w/o shipping!) (22 identical) for 4200$. Seriously. I have another packer that does it for 1/3 or 1/4 of that price but he doesn't service that area. Who do the packing? ITers with PHDs in nuclear science?

I decided to pay for packaging and pickup. And I provide the shipping label. It's not cheap by it's not too bad.

Apparently UPS are doing the pickup and packaging. So you could try contacting them directly.

Has anyone found someone to actually box up and deliver these items to their shipping location? I need someone to do that for me, for a fee of course.

I am using a service called busfreighter, their quote was very affordable, but I need someone to actually package the 12 items that I have (4 in San Jose and 8 in Hillsboro)

I've used the local UPS store to box and ship to my preferred freight company before. It's even easier if the freight broker is using UPS Freight to ship them as they can keep it in system.

Maybe worth a shot to ask the guys closest.

So busfreighter.com quoted me $280 for shipping from Oregon to Texas. Now I just have to figure out how to get them packaged.

Assuming I cant find anyone to do that for me for a reasonable price on services like Favor, I might have to fly down myself.

I found a flight to oregon, and if I'm going that way I would be willing to package up anyone elses' stuff for help with the flight and lodging/rental car. Anyone interested? I would be going this weekend (leave friday afternoon 10/26, return monday night 10/29).

I still wouldn't mind selling these units rather than to have them picked up, but I have a solution for Hillsboro. Newburry Park: not so much. So, lowering price to 500$ for the 8664A.
