A Reputable Ebay Seller - ThailandKits
« on: January 22, 2020, 10:23:48 pm »
I had heard that these Curve Tracer kits are rather decent, so I ordered one.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Transistor-Curve-Tracer-adapter-Oscilloscopes-Plus-Power-supply-UnAssembled-Kit/291531434190?hash=item43e0a0a8ce:g:XLYAAOSw~gRVwN4i

The item got hung up in shipping and was returned to Thailand Kits. Instead of secretly putting the kit back in the mail and making me wait forever to receive it, Thailand Kits contacted me. They gave me the option to reship the item, or give me a refund.

That was very honorable and is a great way to do business. They informed me that there was a problem and gave me options to solve it. Instead of being mad that the item took forever to get here (Should they have secretly just put it back in the mail.), I actually feel good about the situation.

In this day, when so many overseas Ebay sellers have a terrible reputation (and have well earned it,) Thailand Kits seems to be one of the good guys. I am not affiliated with them in anyway. I just thought that someone doing the right thing should get some praise.

Good to know. Did you assemble the kit and test it?

No, I took the refund. So much time had passed that I made other arrangements.

Thailand Kits gave me an immediate refund. Because they did the right thing, I thought they should get a public "atta-boy." And, EEV'ers can always use info on overseas sellers. The post is more about the seller than the kit. That is why I put it in the sales section, instead of the project section.

However, I originally researched the kit and it had a decent reputation. IIRC, there are threads, here, and YouTube videos. It cost about $37USD.

Given that this was regular purchase I don't doubt this is a reputable seller.
But I've seen this and similar explanations when I've won eBay auctions where
the winning bid was on the lowish side. In these cases I'm left with the suspicion
that the item wasn't shipped at all, i.e. that the seller wouldn't honour the
winning bid.
