AUCTION (UK) Lots of test equipment
« on: July 22, 2016, 07:47:46 am »
Lots of test equipment here, a small part of which is some of my old stock being cleared out now I've gone back to real work.

If I understand it correctly, no shipping, local pick-up only ?
Bank transfer within EU (SEPA ?) is possible ?

Bank transfer is fine and yes it's local pick-up.

It's possible someone else on here will be picking up but they don't usually ship.

I have some friends in UK, but I doubt they will be willing to do this sort of business.
I have to hijack someone to do this for me. Any volunteers ? :D (what about crowd cooperation within eevblog ?)
Driving to UK is huge distance.

Most couriers will do a collection service for you. All the sender needs to do is have it securely packed.

Interesting auction. Lots of power supplues, and o-scopes. There might be 100 Fluke 25's in that auction. Other interesting things include the RD lcr meter, the Racal 9475, and the new Fluke 9100S drywell calibrator.

Some nice stuff there. But if I bring anything more home except for money, I'm looking at a divorce  ;D

I'm in a worse position. My annex is a gadget freak herself...

But, re the courier: can anyone of you recommend a good one? I am after the logic analyzer...

Do any of you know a shipper/expeditioner who is able (for a reasonable sum) to collect/pack/ship to Italy?
Is there some of you who live nearby the aution site who can offer such service?
We can define a percentage of value/shipping expenses which you will gain for the service.

P.S.: KJDS and toploser can confirm I'm a good customer.

Hi,

can anyone organize pickup and shipping? I would be happy to pay a premium for that.

I would really like to get some gear from that auction ;)

Thanks

Christopher

Hello,
I was already thinking about flying there from bratislava - the flight is not so dear, and I have a client to visit in the area. But if top is closeby and charges a reasonable fee, I would of course be honoured to use your services - samofab and Dachpappe can confirm me to be a good buyer.

In the mean time: we IMHO need to somehow prevent eevblog on eevblog bid sniping. For example, there are four of the unit I need - I will initially bid on all four, but would be willing to give one up to another EEVblog man in need.

If you guys are willing to "teamf#ck", I am willing to volunteer as the f#ckmaster. Simply send me an email with what you want to tamhan at tamoggemon dot com.  I will tomorrow, after the gym, send a collated email to all so that we dont drive prices up on one another.

All the best
Tam

Ok I've had a few requests asking how much to collect items.

Well it's a 120 mile round trip so that's £50 in mileage. Add another £50 to make it worth my while. Packaging items safely costs money, expect me to add £10 per item or more if it's a bastard of a thing. Then you pay actual UPS shipping cost.

The £100 mileage and incentive will be split between the people who want items collected - 4 people then £25 each.

hey guys, have you been able to login?
After registering they need to verify the account which could take "a few days"  :--  enough to miss this lot....

EDIT: just phoned, talked to them and quickly gave me access to the site  :-+

I don't see an easy way to pay for the items from abroad... here are the options they give:

a] Cash (Max £500 GBP - 2% fee)
b] Bankers Draft or Building Society cheque
c] Cheque (5 working days to clear)
d] Most major UK credit cards: £500 limit (2% fee)
e] UK Debit Cards: £500 limit
f] BACS / CHAPS Payment

BACS should be international but you will need the codes from their account. Also VISA/VISA debit should be fine even for international. Just give them a call to verify.

@TopLoser

I'm interested in an item that is located in Bicester, Oxon. Is that on your route so that you could collect the item?

Thanks

No sorry, that's quite a 2-3 times further away. I would do it, but it would be expensive.

If you can send me cash via paypal, as a gift rather than for goods then I can pay with an instant transfer.

What is the point of this "verify" nonsense?
I've just had the same issue, either they want my cold hard cash or they don't.

What's the usual approach for these auctions, are there many last minute bids? What happens to the unsold stuff?

Going from the labels on some items, I'm assuming that most of this is faulty kit?

They'll want to make sure that those that are bidding are going to pay at the end of the auction, otherwise chaos ensues.

and the serious bidders won't start until there's less than 2 minutes left on an item.
