Batronix
« on: October 02, 2012, 07:28:12 pm »
Does anybody (especially German users) have any idea about that company?
http://www.batronix.com/shop/index.html
Their Rigol oscilloscope prices seem even lower than China prices:
http://www.batronix.com/shop/oscilloscopes/Rigol-DS2202.html
The shipping cost is also reasonable.
Is it too good to be true?

How about warranty issues if you live abroad? I mean if you live outside Germany.

Ik bought a Rigol DG1022 function generator recently. Absolutely ultra fast shipment from Germany to Holland.
Even at the lowest price I could find on the internet! Great company, judging from my recent purchase.

Probably better than if you got it from China. But who knows?

What does the power cord matter? You can buy them in a local shop for peanuts if you don't already have one.

They may be an official distributor, but they're certainly not the only one.

I bought my DG4062 from Telonic Instruments (http://www.rigol-uk.co.uk/) and have been very pleased with their service. Good price too.

It's about 10% more expensive and we don't know about the shipment costs...
Sorry only the 1052E is more expensive the others are about the same.

Hello,

Batronix is a very serious company. I bought, in August, my oscilloscope Rigol DS2102 from them. They fastly delivered the device to France.
Unfortunatly, there was a loose screw inside the power adapter, I think it was detached during the transport (China to Germany or Germany to France, I don't known) causing isolation error.
I returned the device to Batronix (shipping cost suppoted by Batronix).
Batronix immediatly solved the problem and fastly returned the device.

I recommand this company !  :)

Hello all,

Apologies for posting to what appears to be an ancient thread, but this is all that comes up under Batronix.

I recently purchased an o-scope from them at a great price (essentially a free upgrade from a 70 to 100 Mhz model), and even with express shipping it was a couple hundred less than anyone else in the US. However after placing the order, I found in my invoice the following text:

Quote
Please note!
For deliveries outside the European Union,
additional customs duties, taxes, and fees may incurr.

I am in the U.S., so clearly not in the EU. This was nowhere to be seen prior to placing the order. I then emailed them at service@batronix.com and have thus far not received a reply or even a shipping confirmation, despite the item being in stock and payment being made through Paypal.

Has anyone in the US had a successful transaction with Batronics? Did you have to pay any customs or duty of any kind?

Thanks much for any insight!

Well, this is normal for anything that you would order from outside the USA.

I bought a few things from this company and every single transaction was perfect.

Thanks for your reply. However which part is normal, paying duties? If so, this may very well negate any percieved savings. What sort of fees did you have to pay on delivery?

He won't have had to pay any, because he bought within the EU.

I'm guessing this is the first time you've bought anything internationally? (china doesn't count, not only do they lie, but they get a free pass on customs most of the time)

Ah sure enough, I hadn't noticed his origin. Yes, this would be the first purchase from the EU, and yes, I have purchased from China several times without issue. That is primarily why I was hoping somebody in the US had experience buying from Batronix (Germany), and if it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll end up paying import fees, or whether it's a hit or miss affair.

Basically sounds like I just need to pass and cancel the order:(

Do what you should have done in the first place: check what the import duties will cost you. AFAIK the 'value' you can import into the US without import duties/taxes is quite high.

Buyers responsibility to check for any potential taxes or import duties. The seller can't be expected to be aware of these for every country they ship to, they are charged at the point of import and the seller has no control of them.

Caveat emptor.

Well in response to the snide preamble, I already stated that I have never ordered from the EU, only China. So "having done so in the first place" is paradoxical; I was not expecting it. I also stated that the seller made no mention with regard to possible import duties until AFTER the sale took place (it was in the invoice).

Finally [TopLoser], I'm not sure where the assumption that I was in some way blaming the seller for import duties came from, as it wasn't from anything I wrote, nor would it make sense to do so.

And for anyone that actually runs into the same issue, the The import duties appear to be about 1.7% for test equipment, plus carrier processing fees. If it doesn't get held up in customers, it's worth it.

Absolutely right. As a seller I have 90%+ foreign sales, and about 35% go to the US. In 99.9%+ of sales I have no problems, if I may say the buyer has hopefully learned something, although import duties and taxes in the US aren't generally as punitive as they are in the EU for example.

However, if I may put this into perspective, Brazil has to be the worst. I had one instance where a $200 sale ended up with the buyer refusing to pay duty, which was in the region of 100%. The carrier then (a) charged me the Brazilian duty, (b) charged me for the privilege of sending the item back to me and (c) icing on the cake was that I had UK duties taxed on the my own returned shipment. I had asked the carrier to destroy the item in Brazil bearing in mind the 100% tax, but apparently I still had to pay the Brazillian duties anyway. That $200 sale cost me $300.

As an aside, people, please don't ask or expect foreign sellers to falsify the value of items for customs purposes. It may be common practice on China exports but elsewhere in the world not all of us want to attract the unwelcome interest of tax authorities, and falsifying customs value is a sure fire way to do that. After all, in the view of the tax man, if you fiddle that, what else are you fiddling?

15 years ago I didn't expect import duties when I bought a car airconditioning system in the USA.
But didn't blame the company for it. They also didn't mention it because it's none of their business.

I am shipping items from time to time to the USA and most of the time the package will be delivered to the buyer without ever being touched by the US customs.

On the contrary, when I am getting packages from the US, almost 99.9% of them are going to German customs and I have to pick them up and pay my duties, fees and taxes. But, compared to what I read here about south America, we are in paradise here in Germany and I should not complain at all.
